| Valhalla Dancehall - the newie by British Sea Power.
I have had an odd relationship with The Power - never quite loving them, yet always wanting too. Seen them live loads, often as a support band, and they can frustrate and thrill in equal measure. Bought all the albums too. I admire the singlemindedness with which they plough their own furrow. Their is something so British about them, a real English quirkyness and whimsey mixed with Celtic muscle and fury. As I said, I want to love them.
Valhalla Dancehall, on first listen, could be their best yet. It sounds more spacious than "Rock Music", more thoughtful. It could be the one!
Whatever, I wish them all the best with this record - a singular band in homogeneous times. | |
