| Now this could go the same way as the 'Marillion' thread but hey ho! Lets see what happens. I'm currently on the home straight of Dombey and Son by Dickens and about half way through Dead Air by Ian Banks. Anybody else reading anything good at the moment? | |

| Ooo Dead Air is very good, but not as good as The Crow Road. | |

| I've just finished 'Star of the Sea' by Joseph O'Connor, which is brilliant.
Just started a George Saunders collection the name of which escapes me, which is... odd, but good.

| I just finished "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. It sucked me in right away.
Now I've started another and it's so horrible and uninteresting that I can't even remember the name of it(and I don't feel like getting up to go look).

| Last book I read was Exit Ghost by Philip Roth. It was cool but went of on a lot of tangents...
Now I just read my 1001 Albums to hear before you die book before sleep =)

| I recently finished Joe Abercrombie's Last Argument of Kings - a wonderful series. I'm just finishing the Man in the Iron Mask, the last of the three musketeers books - also excellent. Nice to see other Iain Banks fans; I really enjoyed his latest, The Steep Approach to Garbadale. And The Book Thief is on my huge pile of books waiting to be read. | |

Yep. I've got loads of books waiting to be read too. I've lost count how many but it must be 40 or more.

| My "waiting to be read" pile (well, so far my Amazon wishlist, which is a convenient place to note good things I hear about) has now grown by The Road, the Star of the Sea and the Philip Roth series after checking out some of the others mentioned, cheers folks I love it that there's an icon specially for this thread. | |

I just finished 'Junky' by William S Burroughs, too.

That's on my shelf in the 'Must read soon' section Quite possibly one of the darkest things I have ever read is in that book.

| I'm actually reading the wonderful Girl With Glass Feet which is amazing and well worth a read, but this is actually kind of about what I'd like to be reading - this is a bit of a long shot but I wonder if any of you guys in the US would be able to help me out...? I'm trying to get hold of a couple of Amazon Shorts (no it's not a kinky item of clothing ) from Amazon.com but they're "geographically restricted" and so I can't download them because I'm in the UK and don't have a registered address or credit card in the US. Apparently you can get a PDF so I wondered if anyone across the pond could help? I'd be happy to swap for some Elbow rareties or even send a boring old Paypal payment. PM me if you can help, cheers. | |
