| A continuation of the cup of tea thread: what's your favourite pet? I'm a cat person - we've got two moggies. I don't mind dogs, but you can't beat a purring cat curling up on your lap... and they're so much fun (especially when they're kittens)! Only thing that annoys me about them is when Salsa (the female) kills birds | |

| As I said - dogs. Have had Sally (golden retriever) since I was 12. She's awesome. But I only see her whenever I see my parents now They also got another dog, Jill, a black lab 2 and a half years ago. She, too, is awesome! I really want to get a dog but it would be unfair of me to get one as I wouldn't be able to look after it enough. Bugger. | |

| We have 1 1/2 cats in our house.
We did have two; dark tabbies; brothers from the same litter, named Brodgar and Wadworth (one from the Ring of Brodgar stone circle on Orkney and the other after the brewery in Wiltshire.)
Brodgar beats his brother up but fortunately he has been taken in by another family just down the road who recently lost their old cat. We still see him occasionally hence the 1 1/2 cats.

| No idea, I think it was some sort of disease, but it grew a weird white thing on its back. Which closely resembled a tree. Didn't survive long after that though. | |

(well. obviously I do, or I wouldn't have posted. hmm, confused now....) I see what you mean but actually everything turnwed out quite well. The neighbours have a new cat they're happy with (Wadworth used to visit them regularly anyway) and we still get to see him rather than having to send him away. Win/win

| I've very rarely not had a pet in my lifetime. Grew up with dogs and so am more a dog person, but I love kitties as well. We have a 12 year old 1/2 pom 1/2 maltese named Bean (named after Frances Bean Cobain), and a couple of years ago we took in a stray orange and white long haired tabby we named Holly (we found her at Christmastime...aw, sickeningly cute, I know...). Bean is a hellacious little thing - a friend once called him "a 10 pound dog with a Rottweiler brain" - spoiled rotten (did I mention we have no actual human children?). Holly is lovely, quite independent like most cats, loves nothing more than laying in the sunshine in our backyard...and yes, she does like to kill. Unfortunately birds, mostly, but I once found half a mouse laying right here at the desk, at my feet, and about 6 months ago she came in proudly bearing something in her mouth. Turned out to be...ugh, oh no...a baby squirrel. And she had not quite killed it, just mortally wounded it. My poor husband had to finish the job, to put the poor little thing out of it's misery. Yeah. Good times. | |

| Always been a dog person. We actually found a puppy last October and adopted it; she's a mix of something or other (definitely part terrier, and possibly mini-schnauzer or something). She's cute, but a real handful. She chases anything that moves and chews anything that doesn't, and she's a fast little bugger, too. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome...Flash the Wonder Mutt! | |

| OH pets thread!! Aww @ ^^^^! My parents bought 2 black cats, brother and sister, a couple of years before I was born. And they lived to the ages of 13 and 19(!!), so they were always there for me. I really miss having a pet. All I want now is a fish, easy to take care of. But I'm not allowed one, even when I start renting a house with my friends next year, it still says 'NO PETS, NO PARTIES' on our contract. We wanted to throw pet parties | |

We've got 7 chickens, who are all awesome, and two geese - called Audrey and Joan.

| I'm a huge animal person so it's hard to pick a favorite. I like to surround myself with creatures. My dogs, Elsie and Bella. Elsie is the black and white girl, Bella is the crazy looking tan girl. She was living in a drainage ditch in Arkansas for months. Someone must have dumped her. My sister, who does animal rescue, saved her. They are best friends.

| Thanks Chrissie! I love them all so much. They're my kids. Flash is sweet! I failed to mention this in my previous post as I was in a picture posting frenzy. Yes, MagicalTrevor. There is an actual real life dog under all that false hair! Marley is such a cuddly looking puff of fur! Aren't animals the best? Much nicer than a lot of humans out there. | |

Scrabble's a great name, my in-laws used to have a cat called Scrabble. Her party trick was rounding up the chickens at night, just like a sheepdog... and attacking foxes
