I am currently obsessed with this version of this song...accompanied by nothing but handbells and a human beatbox. Awesomeness. Oh, and I love her boots too.

Gimme Shelter - Stones - Let It Bleed - 1969.
Whilst they are probably my least favourite of the genre defining rock titans of that era (although seeing them live as a mere slip of a lad has left an indelible impression), this song is absolutely immense. a churning apocalyptic slice of bluesy hard rock. The guitar, the rhythm, the glorious backing vocals, even Jagger's vocals here are just perfect. One of those songs that everyone knows but perhaps don't ever really listen to.
Well give it a go. Listen to it very very loud.

U Should Know Better - Robyn - Body Talk Pt 2 - 2010
Sharp, whacked out electro pop - if only more pop was like this... Robyn makes Gaga appear both leaden footed and conventional. To be honest some of the songs on both Body Talk albums don't really do it for me - not really my taste, but some of her stuff is so good I can't help but love it. What's more, whilst she comes across as fiercely independent she's not afraid to sing about the need for friendship and companionship, which makes a change from the usual ego-driven or insincere love songs that pass for most pop, although she can do the "me against the world" stuff too.
U Should Know Better, featuring Snoop Dogg is one those songs. It has Robyn warning the Industry, the Vatican, the Russians, the CIA, the French(?) and even The Prince Of Darkness not to f*** with her, over a breathless machine gun synth beat. Brilliant.

Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis - Ralph Vaughan Williams.
Wonderful piece of music.
Useless fact of the day - Vaugham Williams was from an incredible family, his descendants included the likes of Josiah Wedgwood and Charles Darwin.
