too right! I think that's my favourite Blur album. Listening to my poor old laptop taking a whole HOUR to convert a CD to mp3. That's the last time I buy a cheap computer from Tesco. | |

| now listening to The Young Knives - Superabundance through spotify (streaming music service a bit like imeem or last.fm but it's streamed through a program rather than a web page. Seems pretty good, even if it only has one Elbow album on it so far) | |

| What? Falling Over You Who? The Triffids Where From? The Black Swan (1989) Why? Because it is terrific. For anyone not familiar with this album, it's a mad mix, even clash of styles. Songs vary from shimmery guitar pop, exotic ballads, lazy (in a good way) rap, epic country rock, hallucinogenic nursery rhymes, and more. If anything there are too many ideas, and perhaps the album lacks focus, but I don't care, there is real, often dark magic here. Such a shame this was their last proper record, at the time I had a feeling that this album was a precursor to something truly magnificent, but sadly it was not to be. | |
