The truth seemed to be this: he walked over a street and just stumbled. He said he cried like a child. I understand him. Spraining the ankle hurts!!

| I've met Guy 3 times. The first was at the album launch for LOTFW at Blueprint Studio's. He was serving Champagne!!! He handed me a glass, shook my hand and said 'Pleased to meet you, I'm Guy'... As if I didn't know that already. lol
The second and third times were in the Temple on Oxford Road. Guy was at the bar so a friend asked the Barman what Guy was drinking, and to put him one on the slate. Guy later came over and sat with us, thanking us for the beer. Naturally we responded by thanking him for the music. The most recent was last summer. Guy appeared in the Temple along with a guy with a violin in a case. It wasn't long before the voilin was being played - The intro to Kashmir by Led Zep if my memory serves me correctly. A bizarre moment. Very surreal! My biggest regret is not asking for an autograph. I followd Guy outside on one occasion as I didn't want to disturb him whilst he was drinking with friends. Sadly he was on his phone so I didn't want to interrupt.
Ahh well. Maybe next time?

| I've had Guy's tummy in my face a few times - I tend to be at the front barrier and I'm short... so it sort of goes with the territory! Certainly at Delamere and at the first Roundhouse gigs, can't remember which other ones. I have been incredibly lucky to have a couple of Guy moments too. At Porchester Hall in Feb '08 the band performed McGreggor so Guy had his drums out for it. Since the hall was so tiny my friend Jonathan and I were right up against the stage and once the gig was finished we yoinked Guy's 2 McGreggor drumsticks which had been left on the floor. We then sent in an email to Finest Hour stating that we were holding his drumsticks to ransom, which he read out on the show and replied "They're extra thick hickory drumsticks and I spent an hour and a half putting the grips on myself with tape. Thanks very much for stealing them." We never quite figured out whether he was genuinely upset or not but we felt absolutely awful after he said that!! So we decided we would do our best to get the drumsticks back to him. A couple of weeks later we went to the Birmingham playback of TSSK and took the drumsticks with us in the hopes that the band would be there and we could return them, but no luck. We eventually got to talk to Guy after Delamere (for the first time ever) where we explained we were the ones who took the drumsticks and apologised. He seemed quite touched and said we could keep them with his blessing, he'd gotten some more since then. Hehe. My other main Guy moment was, again with Jonathan and with luckywithdisease too, waiting outside the venue after the Southend gig in March this year. We'd been waiting a while and it was freezing, and I think luckywithdisease had spotted Tom Piper at one point and asked if the band were going to come out at any point. Eventually Guy came out (complete in big brown hoodie and carrying a little red suitcase, very cute) and chatted to us for a while. He must have been told by Tom (or the roadies who were about) that we were waiting outside as he'd brought out a very special setlist for us which he thought would make us laugh - it was the setlist with Elbow's drinks requirements on it during the show, eg. what drinks they should be brought out at which points. What an absolute sweetheart to do that for us, and then was even more generous by letting us get a photo with him. As luckywithdisease has pointed out several times, I really need to join MrsWoman's site and put some of my photos up there. I will do that at some point. In the meantime all of the photos and setlists etc. are on Facebook so feel free to add me if you want to peruse them. (PM to get my surname. ) | |

| Another good Guy moment would be when myself, Jonathan, Dave, another friend of mine and luckywithdisease all dressed up with Dave Stewart Virus for the first Roundhouse night last October, right at the front centre barrier. We only wore the dressing gowns and sunglasses for the first few songs (it got very hot wearing them!!) but certainly got several chuckles from Guy and the other band members seemed amused too. | |
