| Just downloaded Yeasayers' Odd Blood, and am loving it. I've had a few of the tracks on my hard drive for the past couple of months already, but the rest of the album's just as good. Highly recommended for any indie fans out there! EDIT: Whoops, also forgot to mention Gorillaz...I'm enjoying their new one, Plastic Beach. | |

Beach House, Teen Dream It's brilliant. I've been listening to it, umm, obsessively. The last album that wormed its way into my ear the way Teen Dream did? The Seldom Seen Kid. I love Victoria Legrand's vocals; they're at once plaintive and sultry. I love the instrumentation. I love the wash of sound. Lovely lovely stuff.

Good deal, Lee - so glad you liked it! Currently rediscovering some great music that had been kinda hard to come by in recent years, the three formerly out-of-print titles by Galaxie 500. Particularly enjoying the second LP, On Fire, which is extra awesome because they added Peel Session recordings as bonus tracks on the re-release. Yay!

Good deal, Lee - so glad you liked it! After several further listens Odd Blood is now my favourite album of the year thus far. Go and buy it everyone, it really is the dog's <censored> oh and I made a cheeky bootleg of the current single O.N.E. with The Automatic if anyone's interested: http://meearsarealight.wordpress.com/2010/04/08/i-created-a-monster

| Downloaded Bettye LaVette's most recent album, Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook. She is an extraordinary soul/R&B singer and on this record, she has covered songs by Led Zeppelin, the Who, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd and Elton John among others. She is a big Beatles fan and covered not only a Beatles track, but also solo tunes from Paul McCartney, George Harrison and (seriously!) Ringo Starr. Great stuff, if you like R&B done right, and when you hear her singing you'll hear what white boys like Clapton, Robert Plant and Eric Burdon were trying so hard to capture in their own vocals. When the Who were celebrated at the Kennedy Center Honors, she sang Love Reign O'er Me at the ceremony. She was great, but even better was watching the faces on Townshend and Daltrey as she kicked their song in the ass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJi6maTueSc | |

| Among the pressies I got from Mr Chrissie after his return from the UK was a compilation set which I'd never seen before: Grange Hill - The Album. I really didn't grow up with the show as it wasn't on here, but I've seen it a few times and I know Mr. Chrissie loved it when he was younger. Great collection of tunes/artists, everything from Adam & the Ants, Madness and Wham! to Lene Lovitch, Malcolm McLaren and (oh dear) Paul McCartney & the Frog Chorus. Definitely a cool trip down memory lane for anyone who was young in the 80's, even if you didn't watch Grange Hill! | |

I've had that on for the better part of the last 2 weeks, and am enjoying it very much. There's a couple of good remixes of Helicopter out there as well, though the album version's great as it is.
