Guess who's featured in this month's Uncut?

The 3-page article tracks Mark, Craig & Guy's thoughts on recording each of the Newborn & Any Day Now EPs, AITB, CoT, LOTFW, SSK, SSK Live at Abbey Road, I Am Kloot's Sky at Night and BARB.

I must say, there's a certain frostiness towards CoT in that article.

It's fair enough for the album's gestation to be stirring up mixed memories for the band, but I think it's a bit lazy and revisionist for the Uncut journalist to roll out the old 'difficult second album' cliché.

I distinctly remember the album being released to almost universal praise by the music press.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I haven't read through all of it yet.

Hope Hatty's able to help: Just had a look for the pages I pulled out before recycling the mag and they can't be found. If they turn up, I'll scan & add, but no promises due to my 'filing system' fail.

Cheers hesh it's always appreciated when someone takes the time to share these with us - the longer format of magazine articles means there's always something new. As MBV says, I think that's the most open they've been about COT, and they even find new stuff to say about the much-discussed TSSK

I think it was more about it being difficult for the band rather than the final result on the record. It's my favorite album, but anytime i've heard the band talk about it it seems like it was a really tricky, hard time for them.

I remember reading somewhere that Garvey was so stressed/tired/ill that the skin on his face peeled off.
