Hi, Let me introduce myself. I've just signed up here. I'm a Genesis fan and some of you might recognise my forum name from the Genesis forum. The short back-story - I was given (asked) for LOTFW as a pressie last year and I was smitten. With barely a pause to digest, I wanted more - SSK, brilliant! Now I've worked through the back-catalogue and I'm ready to see the band - next Monday.

Hey, I'm Sarah, a student from the south of England. Ok enough about the boring stuff I'll tell you a little about my love of Elbow.
I got into Elbow early last year, when I heard "Grounds..." I was blown away and ever since I have been obsessed with them. Each album has been a pleasure to listen to. I am glad that I have found some lovely people to share my first great love with (Well second, my first being the Beatles, but alas this is a much powerful love.) I have converted my Dad and Stepmum and my Sis, who are now all huge fans, and am very pleased that tomorrow I and my Dad will be seeing them together in Bournemouth and sharing something special. As the cliche goes Elbow's music has got me through some bad times in the past year. I hope that other people have been helped in a similar way and it's not me being weird. Anyway enough about me, what about you? Who are you? Where are you? How are you?

Hi Sarah, great to have another convert on board ! I'm a new member of these boards but an Elbow fan since the radio boomed out Newborn to me in 2000, I think. Yes, I think most of us here will agree that Elbow make a wonderful 'Soundtrack to your Life' so to speak!
Their music is a help in the bad times and an added joy in the good times! To me they are always relevant.

Hello all, just discovered this forum, and thought I'd join as an Elbow fan since 2000 from when I first heard Asleep At The Back (the amount of times I used to fall asleep listening to that on my 'discman'....)

I think the band have become better and better over the years and it warms my heart to see the acclaim they're receiving now. Going to see them in Sheffield tonight, and can't wait.

Edit: Forgot to say, Sarah, I know exactly what you mean about the band's music helping you to get through difficult times. I went though a bit of a painful relationship break-up last year, and I nearly wore out Leaders Of The Free World to get me through it (especially My Very Best - Great Expectations - Puncture Repair: I can hardly listen to them now without getting a lump in the throat). I sincerely believe Guy is one of the best lyricists to ever come out of this country, the man's a genius.
