| Hello all
Finally got to see them at Newport last night - genius. The warmth is still very much glowing inside from the sheer thrill of hearing Guy's voice live. if I had a choice I'd see them tonight as well x

| Hey everyone!!! Enjoy the forum (you will! ) It's strange. I think there should be huge speakers all over the world and we should play Elbow songs. Everyone would calm down... Love that thought!!! | |

| Hi all - I've written a couple of posts, so I thought I should say hello. I only discovered them a year ago (on J Ross) and have loved them ever since. Saw them in Newport for the first time (right at the front in the middle with my two kids!) and then again at Wembley. I haven't loved anyone's music so much in years - I'm utterly obsessed and I think I'm driving my family mad! Mind you they love them as well!
Still thinking about U2 tickets - just to see them as support.

| Hi Ticky, good to have you with us! I say: get those tickets! You don't often get a line-up like that and anyway, it's perfectly ok to buy tickets just to see the support band. I've done it on a number of occasions and never regretted it! | |

| 2 posts for me too so it's time i introduced myself.......
Heard of Elbow in 2003 when they supported Muse and again at Glastobury the following year but didn't REALLY start getting into them until 2005 with LOTFW, where i saw them for the first time in Sheffield. Saw them at the Latitude festival last year and again in Sheffield a few days ago. They are a departure from my usual playlist of heavy/progressive/space Rock, but i love them to bits - how can you not when their music is this good??
My 13 y/o son loves them too :-)

| Hey Bunts, Welcome! Another Elbow-veteran, I see! Hope you enjoy the forum. Some of us have been around for a while but recently we have acquired quite a few newbies, which is brilliant! It's heartening to see this little forum growing and it's good to have you on board! | |

| Hello everyone, my name’s Garry and I thought I’d join the ranks, which I expect a lot of people to be doing after Saturday night. I’ve been In love with Elbow since Asleep in the Back, and more often that not felt alone in my adoration in the face of obscurity and confusion from friends. I managed to catch them live for the first time back in 2005 at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh and I was a little scared about the transition to Wembley. I needn’t have worried though, as it was the most incredible, sublime, emotional and beautiful evening of my life. I love music, but Elbow have always held a special place in my heart, not just because I've been with them every step of the way since 2001, seen them grow and to finally achieve the success they deserve, but because they have helped me through so much in my life. Every soaring mountain top and soul destroying low, they've been there. And I cried my eyes out on Saturday (scattered black and whites just finished me off!) because I was just so proud, and their songs break my heart every time like no other. Ah, our little band made it to Wembley Arena…..well done boys! Sorry for the ramble! p.s. even the 11 hour megabus journey back to Dundee seemed to fly by as I was still walking on air | |

| Hi folks! My name is Mike and I'm a real Johnny-come-lately to the Elbow party.
They caught my interest when they won the Mercury Music prize - used to work for the (now defunct) commercial organisation and used to get the usual freebies leading up to the event. Then caught their performance on Jools Holland's tv show and on the strength of that bought Seldom Seen Kid. Followed that with Leaders ...
Saw them for the first time at Wembley last weekend and was bowled over by the 'love in the room' and of course the power of the performance. Stunning. My musical tastes are all over the place. I list early Simple Minds, The Smiths, Yes and Bruce Springsteen as all-time faves (bet you don't get that bunch in the same sentance very often). I guess I'm a sucker for melody and emotion, which in part explains the Elbow connection. Oddly enough, I'm not really a lyrics person ... most artists could sing the Phone Book and as long as it's in tune I'm happy. However, Elbow's lyrics are actually pretty important to me. Garvey does have a lovely turn of phrase .. and what's not to like about images of 'twisted karaoke at The Aniseed Lounge'? Hunter S Thompson would be proud.
So there you have it ... well a bit of it.
cheers
Mike | |

| Wow, having Wembley as your first ever Elbow gig is some introduction! Totally agree about Guy's lyrics:
But image on image like beads on a rosary Pulled through my head as the music takes hold And the sickener hits, I can work till I break But I love the bones of you that I will never escape
what more can I say? | |

| Hello there. I am possibly unique on this site and I hope I don't transgress the off topic law. 03/03/09 I had never heard an Elbow song or seen them either. I was being badgered daily however by my sister to listen to this band she had been going crazy about for ages. She is well aware of my musical tastes and was adamant that I should give them a listen. Unfortunately I was put off by the fact I had about eight or nine albums that I hadn't listened to and I wanted to clear those before I started on something else. 04/03/09 received a text from aforementioned sister saying for my birthday 11/03/09 she had bought me a ticket for Wembley 14/03/09. I got my act into gear and bought LOFTW and COT. Played Leaders, forty seconds of Station Approach, I was hooked. I thought this is a fluke, nobody is this good. Played it repeatedly, and COT (Fugitive Motel-what can you say). Went to Wembley, it has certainly improved decoratively and organisation wise. The band were unbelievable and what a show. Today I received Asleep and SKK through the post. A whirlwind introduction. I cannot stop listening to the albums they just improve with each play. By my reckoning sixteen days to discover a band that comes along once in twenty years maybe. Not bad. Registered on forum today.
Good Luck and see you at the next concerts.
Terry. | |

| Great site. I only just found it today. I have been looking on the web for Elbow fan sites but until now could'nt find anything as good as this one. By way of introduction, my name is Alan and I have enjoyed music most of my life. Showing my age, but I grew up following such prog rock groups as Yes and Pink Floyd (dinosaur rock I think they call it) I still listen to them and have never tired of this kind of stuff. I must confess I only "discovered" Elbow last year on TV at Glastonbury. Had never heard of them before that ( partly because my interest in music had diminished somewhat over recent years). Was amazed and had to find out more. That such a talented band had escaped me for so long was a mystery. Anyway , I have since got all 4 albums which are all terrific and recently saw them at Wembley which was a awesome concert. Lucky to have got hold of tickets for the Halle concert in July. Keep up the good work !! | |
