| Alright, now I get to show you good people just how much of a geek I actually am! I have been on a big Elbow buzz (I mean even bigger than ususal!) since I bought my tix to their Atlanta show this past weekend. This morning I woke up with an idea in my head, and unfortunately for all of you I went ahead and followed through with it. So now, for your entertainment, I present my Ode to Elbow!
(NOTE: This is to be sung to the tune of My Favorite Things, from the Sound of Music - all apologies to Rodgers & Hammerstein and Julie Andrews)
Guy Garvey's singing and Richard Jupp's drumming, Pete Turner's basslines and Mark Potter's strumming. Craig Potter's keyboards can pull my heartstrings - these are a few of my favorite things!
Asleep In The Back made me love them way back when, and I've loved each brand-new release they've had since then. The Seldom Seen Kid made my heart grow new wings. These are a few of my favorite things!
Being a fan in the US is lonely. Sometimes it seems like it's me and me only. If I had my way, they'd be treated like kings. Their music is one of my favorite things!
When it's August In Atlanta And they come to play, I'll be there - right up front - to sing, clap and cheer, and then things will be okay!
Some call them boring and some call them mopey. I think those people are totally dopey. Their muscal taste does most certainly ming. 'Cause Elbow is one of my favorite things!
Their songs are so wonderful, they deserve big ups. Even the ones about corpses in bathtubs! The joy and the sadness and beauty it brings - Their music is one of my favorite things!
Let's not forget about Guy's Finest Hour, where awesome tunes blossom like beautiful flowers. Guy rocks my world when he's doing his thing - his show's also one of my favorite things!
He's a DJ, he's a singer, he writes lyrics too. Guy Garvey's the man and Elbow is the band that I really love - don't you?

| Ahhhh! Well done. The Von traps couldn't have done better! Were you frolicking on a mountain-top at the time? I think Elbow brings out the jolly geek in all of us. | |

| Quite an achievement that that's not at all schmaltzy! From the heart & fun - two things you'd expect from an Elbow fan I guess | |

| Ah...Elbow poetry. Heres a reply to you ChrissieinFL, to the tune of Powder Blue. I am not the author, just changed a couple of words to make it more up to date The original was written by a beautiful fan from COT days - some might recognise, remember, (but as anon just now) - Quote :
[tune of Powder Blue]
Guy's a lust-like God -figure His look is dressed to kill us. Bellyache. In his hair or in adherence to a Drama Queen Style tonight, he gets me right drowning in his smiles.
Bring that minute back We never get so close to them as when the concert starts Can't wait to share on elbow ro0-oom
The Bow obtained restraining orders They wanted to ignore us. For a day. Proud to be the one who's cold when the rain begins A stalker's skin, crazy-eyed, headed for the Bin.
Bring that minute back...

| Glad to see some poetry Chrissie, cheers for sharing. Couldn't think of an equally upbeat premise, however here is one of my Elbow inspired writings... I love you, I miss you can we still be friends my heart lies in tatters i'm drinking again. No sun in my mornings or warmth in my bed. I'm broken, betrayed, maybe better off dead. Seems only last week when i felt like a king, your beautiful smile as i slid on your ring. Is that when it started, our descent to the abyss, lies and deceit masked through your sweet kiss. Perhaps it was me and i just fooled myself that someone like you couldn't want something else Did i take you for granted or not meet your mark. Did i try far too hard and snuff out our spark. It's too late, i know. Nothing more only sorrow. Pour me that drink and i'll dry out tomorrow. if tomorrow don't come then i've nothing to lose. you'll weep at my funeral, switching off, no more blues. Of course, i do have some happier inspirations too ! | |

| Well, limericks are always useful but you did great on the first go! It's just nice that people here are so creative, and so receptive to the creativity of others, even if it's something dippy like my song! I always know you guys are gonna post some interesting stuff here - that's what makes this place so much fun! | |
