My brother hates them, says they are "too indie".

You should hear the modern prog he likes though, dreadful stuff. So I guess it's horses for courses.

He plays in a pretty good blues band though.

Too indie? I'd hate to hear what he says about the Pigeon Detectives or Arctic Monkeys!

I think he quites like Arctic Monkeys, but that could partly be because he lives in Sheffield. (Incidently, his daughter, my niece, is in the same class at school as Richard Hawleys' son).

I must admit I balked when he said that..Elbow? Too Indie? wtf? I thought he would love them being a huge Genesis and Pink Floyd fan. Weird huh...

I bought him AITB for his birthday. He came over one weekend to see Roger Waters with me last year, and after a drink or two told me "I f'kn hate Elbow", which was disappointing.

Dont get me wrong about my brother, he's a wonderful bloke, loving sibling, and a better drummer than I'll ever be, but I think we are coming round to the fact that our crossover taste in music is becoming quite narrow as we get older

That is interesting to me as my lil' brother just likes all my favourie bands. I wonder if that'll slowly change

That happened with my Dad - he introduced me to a load of good music when I was in my early teens, but we hardly ever coincide now.

*Back on topic*, hi Di. My other half likes Elbow but doesn't like live gigs so I usually go on my own and really enjoy it. I kind of like that sense of freedom of just enjoying it without worrying about what someone else is thinking. (Or perhaps I'm just a miserable git )
