Oh wow. Just watched this (three times) and even though it was a video, it killed me. This is the sort of treatment that song deserves, not that there's anything at all wrong with the original! But that setting and those musicians just brought out the full glory and gorgeousness of that tune in a big way. Those of you who were there to see it live are so very, very lucky!

| Gareth Brooks was talking about the Halle shows on the radio this morning. He is a huge elbow fan, and was talking about the link-up at Castlefields and how incredible it was and how he cried during the opening notes of ODLT. He said "if you missed it, then you really missed out on something special and you'll just have to wait for the DVD release". Hope it's true and not just wishful thinking on his part. | |

| new member, old fan.. don't bite! was at the bridgewater thursday night and just HAD to sign up here and gush. how good was that?! I mean seriously, that has to be a contender for gig of the year. I went on a prayer. Phoned the box office a few days before "no mate, sold out... you may get lucky if you turn up early, and if there are any returns". "how early?" "5pm". So I pitched up at 4:30, was given the same spiel, "...but last night we didn't get any returns til 7pm". hmm, could be in for a long wait. less than 20 minutes later she wanders over all smiles, "got you a ticket!". seriously? "yeah, my colleague there will sort you out!". smack bang in the centre of the circle, result! 2 days off work. almost 500 mile round trip. petrol. hotel. food. drink. ticket. I do believe I just set myself a new personal record for lengths-went-to to see a single gig and you know what? I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. I've read the reviews floating around the web, not sure I can add a great deal other than to echo the general sentiment: it was immense. Words fail me now I just need to get a ticket to the MEN and my life will be complete | |

| Just came back from Manchester last night so, sorry for the late posting! It was really lovely to get to meet you all over the past couple of days and what wonderful shows we've seen!!! I feel really privileged to have been there! I enjoyed the first night more than the second night but I think that was because of that annoying man who insisted on whistling all the time! Also, there was a couple beside me who not only came in late, they also then insisted on doing a running commentary throughout the show. Grrrr! Anyway, that was just my bad luck! Like I said, I am so glad I was there for it and sod the expense! Thanks for posting all the lovely pics too and I look forward to seeing you all again in September! | |

now I just need to get a ticket to the MEN and my life will be complete Awwwww!!! So pleased for you! Welcome to the Family, but be warned...we're all nuts!! As you will see there is an Elbow magic that surrounds this forum and it's people (well, I think so anyway). Elbow-fan God as I like to call him, patron saint of Elbow fans, whatever it is, it seems to be watching over us. And it looks like you're already been touched by its presence! So I bet you anything you will be going to M.E.N.!!! Hope you like sombreros.....

| I saw this YouTube video of Scattered - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27fY1EJfKBk - is that the one you guys mentioned before? The sound is really good except for a slight crackling/rustling noise over the first few minutes. *sigh* It was so, so beautiful. | |

| In all the excitement I forgot to make a note of the setlist. Whilst I can remember which songs were played, I can't remember the running order. Perhaps someone can help?

| Meant to comment on this the other day..... Guy travelling to Castlefield during the interval to duet with Jesca Hoop on Murder of Birds on Thursday evening! Did Guy say he travelled there under police escort? Fabulous and totally unexpected - even Jesca looked really surprised! | |

Fabulous and totally unexpected - even Jesca looked really surprised! He mentioned something about there being a fuss over the arrangements and Elbow having their own police... but didn't really elaborate. I thought she looked surprised too but she *must* have known... right? She did seem a bit put off or distracted during the song hehe, possibly something to do with Guy leaning right over her shoulder to sing into the mic!

| I just became a Little Beast, woohoo!! Back on topic though, now that the Halle nights have passed *sniff* were there any tracks you really hoped would be played but weren't? I personally was really hoping for Fugitive Motel... and Asleep In The Back, but I always want them to play AITB so I'm used to not getting my way with that one. | |

| It used to be a regular like Red, and they still bring Red back every so often so it's only a matter of time before Fugitive Motel makes an appearance. | |
