- Hello everyone
lovely to see how much interest there is in elbow ! fan since belatedly discovering "Cast Of Thousands". First elbow gig at ... can't remember! glasto, brixton, islington ?
Anyway, I am dan, 42, from Jersey, an inveterate poster on powderblue and got to meet many fellow elbow fans at various events. thanks for having me. Wow blast from the past. Fancy seeing you pop in here. 'Inveterate' eh? I first met you at Glastonbury Elbow 2004, we were on telly together during Fugitive Motel but think your first one was Brixton or Islington earlier that year dan, though we didn't cross paths at those.

| Hey guys, took me a while to actually make my first post, felt a bit puny in the presence of such Elbow fanatics but here I am! My name's Ollie, I think Glastonbury this year was the tipping point into making me an absolute fanboy (and I hate the term) of the band, so yes, hello everyone!
Also delighted to see that someone reckon a UK Spring 2012 tour is in the pipelin, I desperately need to see them again, I suppose we all want to, dur!

| Hello All!
My name is Adam, I'm from Worcester UK. I was introduced to Elbow when the Seldom Seen Kid came out and became hooked on the album and so decided to look more into the band. I bought Asleep in the Back and since then have bought all their albums and loved every second of them! =)
Guy Garvey is now a huge inspiration to me as I am someone who is looking for a career in music. I haven't really found any other band to match their music and I hope they are producing music of such quality for a long time to come =) As cliche as it may sound, I really feel I can relate to their music.
So glad I found this forum! =) xxx

| Welcome to the forum, Adam! I think it's safe to say the band has been a HUGE inspiration to us all: getting us through to rough times and being by our side in the good times. Relating to their music is a wonderful thing and I hope your career in music works out well for you! Enjoy the forum - it's good to have you with us! | |

| Subject: Greetings from Austin Sun 25 Sep 2011, 18:56 | |
| Hello, everyone.
David here, in Austin, TX. In 2001 a friend of mine who worked at a now non-existent independent music store in my home town in Oklahoma gave me a promo of Asleep in the Back and said, "You're gonna like this." I put it on in the car. By the time the a capella bit in "Any Day Now" was over, I was hooked. Been following them obsessively since then. They've been a enormous inspiration to me.
I've seen them live twice now, which I believe is rather a feat as an American fan. I flew to LA in July of 2008 to see them play one of their criminally few headlining shows during the Seldom Seen Kid tour. After having listened to them for seven years, it was thrill to see them in person finally. (Including air fare, that was the most I've ever paid to see a show, but entirely worth it.) My second show was a week ago today at the ACL festival here in Austin. Freakin' fantastic. As I stood front and center in the ridiculous, humid heat for over an hour waiting for the show to begin, I was pleased to find myself surrounded by tons of other Elbow fans who seemed to know as much, and more, about them as I do. Being an American fan, I sometimes feel like I'm the only person who's ever heard of them. I only wish they were given more than an hour set. Hearing "The Birds" live made the long wait in the heat completely worth it. And they brought the rain with them.
During my decade long fan-dom, and in keeping with my music-specific obsessive-compulsiveness, I've managed to collect just about everything they've ever recorded. All the b-sides, compilation tracks and random promos I could get my hands on. So, suffice it to say, I feel in good company here. Sorry for the long-winded first post. Thanks for having me.
-David. | |

| Hi David, and welcome! Man, your story sounds an awful lot like my story - fan since AITB, first chance to see them in concert was 2008, and it involved a plane trip for me, too (I doubt they'll ever step foot here in Florida, unfortunately). I'm so happy to hear about the many Elbow fans you encountered at ACL, and I wish I could say I've run into some myself, but around here, it's just me and a couple of friends whom I've turned into fans. I wish America "got" Elbow more than they do, but I'm still fighting the good fight and trying to turn people on to their music when I can. Glad you're here, hope you enjoy the discussions and the wonderful people who post here, and see ya around! | |

Great to see the band playing at Manchester cathedral just as good as the Abby Road Studio gig a few years back. Can anyone help with 2012 tour dates? Keep up the great work. Paul

| Hi there! I'm Leonardo from Trieste, Italy. Since I've discovered Elbow, I became a huge fan. They're my favourite band along with Radiohead. Unfortunately Elbow are not very famous in Italy, however I spread the word as much as I can, and generally anyone who listens to them ends up liking what they do. The Seldom Seen Kid is still my favourite, but I love all the albums. And I love Guy's talking during the shows. They're really amazing guys, talented and grounded. Hope to see them soon.
Cheers everyone! | |

| Hi All, Semus is the name (from Ireland if the name didn't give it away ) Glad to have found this place. Looks very good. Like i said in in the scattered flacs section i've some bootlegs to share, some will more than likely have them already as there's nothing rare about them, just a decent little collection of live and studio session stuff. Happy to say have been listenin to elbow since day one, guy that worked in the local music store gave me a V2 two track promo just as Asleep was released. Lost interest a bit round Leaders but ingnited again with Seldom Seen Kid and bought those two albums the same day. As for other musical interests, I'd like to think I've a fairly eclectic taste, Oasis, Weller, Ocean Colour Scene & the Charlatans would be among my all time favourite acts, though always getting into risign stars like The Wombats or Mumford & Sons some that've been around for a while like Noah & The Whale, while still lkiing the rock dinosaurs like Springsteen or Zeppelin. | |

| Aaah finally found a presentation topic ! ^^
So Hello everybody, I'm a 24 years old french girl, I unfortunately discovered Elbow very late because here in France we don't see them on TV or don't even hear them on radio so... This is how I knew them : heard the music of House md season 6, found it very nice, search on the internet and found the song (it was ground for divorce) started to listen the album, + the other albums, and finally had all the albums and I'm addicted to the band. To tell the truth, it's the only band I'm listening to now, they are so various in their style I don't need anything else at the moment. My favourite album is leaders of the free world, I really wish I new them earlier to see a gig of this album... Because unfortunately, Build a rocket boys is my less favorite album XD Well I like some songs on it, I like songs on every albums but I love to death the leaders of the free world one. And some of my favorite songs from memory : fugitive motel, open arms, some riots, a day like this, red, station approach, picky bugger, the stops, switching off, and of course... MC GREGOR !
Anyway, I'm going to see their gig in Paris on 15th november, to tell the truth I'm over stressed, I do nightmare about that. Of course, I can't wait I'm sure the gig will be awesome but depending on whether I succeed or not to do what I want to do this day, it will be the best or the worse day of my life. And for the moment, from what I tried and because the band is damn hard to contact, I have a very bad feeling about this day. I think of this day 24h/24, I need some other fans support, really !
(you can send me a private message if you want more information and maybe people who already met them could give me some advices, it would be really appreciated ! )
See you soon =] | |

| hi everyone!
never been an active poster but recently i found myself humming, whislting or singing an elbow song at least three times a day! maybe if i'll give in to it it'll eventually fade out a bit.
i'm a fan since aitb and saw them for the first time in 2003. i tried to spread the gospel since but was only succesfull with two people (and one of them being my girlfriend..). luckely elbow did a better job with ssk.
next week the madrid show is on the agenda, realy looking forward to it!
cheers! (in anticipation of their beer wich is supposed to arrive any day now)
