| Beyond excited for this. I've been a fan of The Czars/John Grant as long as I've been a fan of Elbow. Unfortunately, I caught the Czars towards the end of their run. | |

| Hi Chrissie! Not sure if you remember me but we were front row in Atlantis Center Stage last time the elboys were this side of the pond. So disappointed there is no ATL show this time around, and like you, am considering making the trek to DC...but alas, the 9:30 Club and Ticketmaster are both missing this date. Any clue what's going on?Lori from GA | |

Hey Lori! Yup, I sure do remember you - and it is a HUGE bummer to see that Atlantis was scrapped on the US tour this time around. As for the Washington show, I do believe those ticket links will come up at the time they go on sale (Friday AM). Sometimes club shows are a little bit different, in my experience, from theatre or arena shows. So I am assuming that all will be well at 10 AM. Hope you can make it to D.C. - I am about 95% sure I can get there so I will keep my fingers crossed for us both!

| I had a bit of a whinge the other day about going to Liverpool to see the boys play, having just bought tickets to see them on my door step in Newcastle.
Reading this thread reminds me how lucky we are in the UK, that the geographical challenges of our american cousins means that you really have to be a committed fan!
i shall never again complain about travelling to see elbow...
good luck with the american shows guys!!!!

good luck with the american shows guys!!!! Heh heh heh ...yeah, "committed" is an excellent word to describe us fans on this side of the Atlantic - when my friends see how much effort/time/cash I put into getting to a live Elbow show, they think I should be committed! The Elboys definitely don't make it easy for us over here. And as you noted, errant, the UK fans are dead lucky and I am dead jealous of all y'all! But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. And luckily Mr. Chrissie is very sympathetic to my Elbow addiction and has done his level best to enable my habit (for better or for worse, you know!). He actually wanted to try and send me back over for the Manchester show this time, but the necessary dosh just didn't materialize to that degree, so Washington it shall be (hopefully). I would have loved to stay a bit closer to home and Atlanta would have been awesome, but them's the brokes.

| Anyone having luck yet getting tickets to the DC date? I'm not clear if they were supposed to go on sale at 10 or at 12. And still no mention of the show on the venue's website! If I still don't have luck by 12, I think I might try calling the box office.
(Thank god for a snow day-- I actually have time during the day to log on and try to buy tickets!)

Oh good - I was just going to see if you still needed help! Glad you managed to snag your tix, I did too! And, (BONUS!!) Mr. Chrissie has decreed that, since the D.C. gig is on Mother's Day, and I would have felt positively awful leaving my daughter home over Mother's Day weekend, she can accompany me on my trip! Luckily the 9:30 is an all-ages, all the time venue, and non-smoking as well. So she should be just fine...her first Elbow gig!! I'm so proud - they grow up so fast! Having her with me will be a treat and I am BEYOND excited for this show!!!

| Hey Chrissie...hope to see you in DC! Tix ordered! Woot!! And yes, us US fans are envious of the UK fans' concert accessibility, but I suppose the trade - off is the smaller, more intimate venues they play here. Cheers! | |

I've been a fan since 2008 when I saw them at the All Points West festival in NJ, but that was a short 45-min festival set, so I cannot wait to see them in a real show. I'm also toying with the idea of going to the NY show, since I can also make it an excuse to go visit family in NY...

Hey - glad you are going to see them in D.C., and maybe I'll see ya there! And you're right, the smaller venues are a treat which seem to be reserved for fans in the States these days, so I suppose that's a lucky thing for us. Very, very happy that this seems to be working out for some of us who were hoping to catch the band this time. Roll on May 11th!

Awesome, you are going to LOVE seeing them in a more intimate setting. Go to NY too if you can, you don't even need family visits as an excuse! Elbow touring in the US is a good enough reason! Just go!

Hey Allyn! I figure you're a 9:30 vet, so I'll ask you for some advice. I am taking my daughter there with me - she's fairly concert-savvy but this'll be her first club gig. I know it's an all-ages venue, but from your personal experience, will it be a fairly reasonable place for my kid to be? I don't wanna land her in anything that's not cool for her to deal with, but I'm assuming the scene there will be decent and not too wackadoo.

| A couple of things about the 9:30 Club. There's no seating. The neighborhood is decent. How old is she? She'd probably be fine with it. I've never found it to be "wackadoo" there. And if you want to see what the venue looks like, this YouTube video from the 2011 tour was shot from the balcony straight back of the stage. | |

| Yeah, the no-seating thing was something I knew about and I'm cool with that. I was just trying to get a general idea of whether it would be a positive vibe, overall. Some clubs (in FL, anyway) are places that kids really shouldn't be in, even when there are shows billed as "all ages". Thanks for the info - and actually I should probably ask you another bunch of questions since this is your turf, but I expect it would be more appropriate to PM or email you. If you'd be cool offering your local wisdom to a D.C. noob, that is - I don't want to impose, but a couple of handy hints on stuff I'm not familiar with (Metro, weather, etc.) would be greatly appreciated, if you have the time and inclination! If you're willing and able let me know, and if not no prob. | |

Nice - and good luck on getting to the NY show as well! I am now officially going to D.C. - flight and hotel room sorted, arrangements made, all systems go! As usual, I am going to be jumping out of my skin until showtime. So excited, y'all!
