| And when I have some words, this is the way I'll sing through a distortion box to make them menacing Yeah, then I'm gonna have to write a chorus we're gonna need to have a chorus and this would seem to be as good as any other place to sing until I'm blue in the face Happy with what you have to be happy with you have to be happy with what you have to be happy with what you have, happy with what you have to be happy with you have to be happy with what you have to be happy with what you have, you have to be happy with what you have to happy with And for a second verse of terse economy I'll brew another pot of ambiguity Happy with what you have to be happy with you have to be happy with what you have to be happy with what you have, happy with what you have to be happy with you have to be happy with what you have to be happy with what you have, you have to be happy with what you have to happy with Then I guess I'll repeat the chorus! We're gonna repeat the chorus! I guess I'll repeat the chorus! We're gonna repeat the chorus! King Crimson - Happy With What You Have to Be Happy With Gotta love Adrian Belew. | |

| Oh the word's on the street, you've found someone new. If he looks nothin' like me, i'm so happy for you. I heard an old girlfriend has turned to the church- She's tryin' to replace me, but it'll never work
Bad Cover Version - Pulp:)
I love that song and i love all of their stuff, so there may be a lot more lyrics from them and Jarvis Cocker as time goes on:P His solo stuff's actually very good:)

| Apart from Elbow, two Bloc Party songs stand out for me:
Skeleton:
"All my thoughts are all lies. All my thoughts are all lies. All my bones are so tired. All my bones are so tired. So young and so handsome, So easily led. They told me to wait, I said:
It makes a man out of me. It makes a man out of me. It makes a man out of me. It makes a man out of me. You take the fun out of me. You take the fun out of me. You take the fun out of me. You take the fun out of me.
Consistent to my fucking dream. And I've paid my dues, Just to get them all back. A simple man, a simple desire.
What should I have said? What should I have done? The horses are here, The damage is done. So just take off your shirt, And just take off your dress. We can go dancing On a Saturday.
It makes a man out of me. It makes a man out of me. It makes a man out of me. It makes a man out of me. You take the fun out of me. You take the fun out of me. You take the fun out of me. You take the fun out of me.
And I've been consistent to my fucking dream And I've paid my dues Just to get them all back A simple man, a simple desire
I'm just a skeleton. I'm just a skeleton. I'm just a skeleton. "
and The Present:
"If you're cold and you're alone And you don't know where to go You can call me anytime Nothing's changed, I am still here
If you're running out of breath And your building's burning down You can jump, I will catch you Nothing's changed, I am still here
With heavy hands and an absent mind Did I blow your candle out? With shortened words and a lack of time Am I ever on your mind?
Was I cruel and never there? Nothing to rely on Was our romance a black hole? You kept the better half than me
Well if you really wanted to know Well no the earth's not moved for me since I wish I could've given you lightness The lightness that you deserve
And they say time is a healer And time will look after you I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait Come over
Come over
Why don't you come over?
Well if you really wanted to know Well no the earth's not moved for me since I wish I could've given you lightness The lightness that you deserve
And they say time is a healer And time will look after you Let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go Come over
And I stole you that ring 'Cause I wanted you to have it And it wasn't about me, I just wanted you to have it Your smile, baby your smile, baby I come alive
I feel so naked, like before we met Last night I was so close to just calling you up They say it takes time to heal the wounds I can't wait, I can't wait Come over"
...They've gone a bit shit now though.

| The greatest interpreter of popular song in the 20th century was Francis Albert Sinatra. But, had he not had some of the finest lyrics at his disposal, it would have been a lesser story. Thank god, then, for people like Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Sammy Cahn, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer et al.
Not only are the lyrics absolutely stellar, but the vocal lines would scare the beejesus out of any modern day singer (and if yo doubt me, you try singing 'em).
Anyway, from an embarassment of riches, try this one out for size:
I've got you under my skin I've got you deep in the heart of me So deep in my heart, that you're really a part of me I've got you under my skin
I've tried so not to give in I've said to myself this affair never will go so well But why should I try to resist, when baby will I know so well That I've got you under my skin
I'd sacrifice anything come what might For the sake of having you near In spite of a warning voice that comes in the night And repeats, repeats in my ear
Don't you know you fool, you never can win Use your mentality, wake up to reality But each time I do, just the thought of you Makes me stop before I begin Cause I've got you under my skin
Cole Porter

| I'm really loving Mumford & Sons atm Little Lion Man: Weep for yourself, my man, you'll neverbe what is in your heart. Weep, Little Lion Man, you're not as bave as you were at the start. Rate yourself, and rape yourself, take all the courage you have left. Wasted on fixing the problems that you made in your own head.
It's not your fault but mine, And it was your heart on the line, I really fucked it up this time, Didn't I my dear? (Didn' I my dear?)
Tremble for yourself, my man, you know that you have seen this all before. Tremble, Little Lion Man, you'll never settle any of your scores. Your grace is wasted in your face, your boldness stands alone among the wreck. Learn from your mother, or I'll spend your days biting your own neck.
It was not your fault but mine, And it was your heart on the line, I really fucked it up this time, Didn't I my dear? (Didn't I my dear?)
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
It was not your fault but mine, And it was your heart on the line, I really fucked it up this time, Didn't I my dear?
It was not your fault but mine, And it was your heart on the line, I really fucked it up this time, Didn't I my dear? (Didn' I my dear?)

| I love Some Riots lyrics so incredibly much,
A friend of mine grows his very own brambles They twist all around him 'til he can't move Beautiful, quivering, chivalrous shambles What is my friend trying to prove?
The bruise turns a tall, gentle boy to a terrible totem And the kids gather round trying to see what's inside I think when he's drinking he's drowning some riot What is my friend trying to hide? Cause it's breaking my heart, it's breaking my heart And it's breaking my heart to pull out the rain Brother of mine, don't run with those fuckers When will my friend start singing again? When will my friend start singing again?
I also love the lyrics to Strawberry Fields Forever
and of course Nothing Else Matters by metallica will forever be in my heart, So close no matter how far, could not be much more from the heart Forever trust in who we are and nothing else matters
I also love the LYRICS of kaiser chiefs Love's not a competition (but im winning), but im not to fond of the song it self, but the lyrics are brilliant.
I won't be the one to disappoint you anymore, I know, I've said all this and that you've heard It all before, The trick is getting you to think that all this was your idea. And that this was everything you've ever wanted out of here, Love's not a competition but I'm winning. I'm not sure what's truly altruistic anymore, When every good thing that I do is listed and you're keeping score, Love's not a competition but I'm winning Love's not a competition but I'm winning At least I thought I was but there's no way of knowing, At least I thought I was but there's no way of knowing, You know what it's like when you're new to the game but I'm not, I won't be the one to disappoint you, I won't be the one to disappoint you anymore

Cave, I don't believe in an interventionist God But I know, darling, that you do But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him Not to intervene when it came to you Not to touch a hair on your head To leave you as you are And if He felt He had to direct you Then direct you into my arms
