Vum Garda Lyrics

Hey guys.  Takeoff's got me in the mood for some dark proggy stuff and so I'm digging around some of the older tunes - the Red b-sides are always good for that. Anyways, I'm always big on the lyrics yet usually have a hell of a time with deciphering them myself. Which leads to the point: Can anybody post (or direct me) to the lyrics for "Vum Garda"?  

I've had it stuck in my head for a while and it'd be great if I could have a re-listen with a dose of lucidity when Guy's singing....

Alright, then. Is anybody game for helping me figure them out, at least?

I know this tune's long and dense - but that's the fun!

Haha ! love this post mate as 'Vum Garda' is the song I hate most by Elbow - listened to it 3 or 4 times and can't abide it !

I remember when Vum Garda used to be put on to play out as the venue was gradually filling up before curtains up at the early gigs. Very atmospheric anticipation, loved it.
Just being able to pick out the odd word or Iine, but not clear enough to decipher adds to the mysteriousness.

I've never been able to figure out the song in its entirety. I can pick out a few obvious lines but that's it.

The descent into madness, I love this one. But lyrics? No, we're not meant to get more than snatches, I think.

I'm thinking I missed the mark here, then - I've only ever been able to make our bits here and there (the same ones you lot have, I imagine)

Oh well.

I like Vum Garda quite a lot with its trip hoppy style. Does at least someone know, if the title is something spelled backwards?
