Which band/artist do you think you SHOULD like but in reality you don't?

Sunday Girl's admission that she wasn't fond of Radiohead inspired me to think of the artists that I really don't like, although it seems like the rest of the population think they're almost as good as Elbow. For me, I never understood Morissey's appeal and I simply can't abide REM - far too whiny. BTW I do like Radiohead!

Ticky this is a great thread! And I totally agree with not liking R.E.M and I detest Morrisey and no one really understands why. I also don't like Bob Dylan bar a couple of his songs. Also don't get the appeal of Snow Patrol *hides* Sorry I know there are a few who like them on here

Agreed on Snow Patrol...apart from Run I find them very dull.

I don't get The Fall either MT, mediocre songs really. And I think Mark E Smith is an arse All I can say about Snow Patrol is that they've headlined quite a few festivals eg Oxygen last week and the Isle of Wight festival a couple of years ago (I think?) So why can't Elbow headline, that would be sublime!

I don't think anyone should like Snow Patrol, certainly not these days and particularly in comparison to Elbow!

Heh, no love lost on Lightbody! Another Bob Dylan non-fan here. Same with PJ Harvey too.

I love all of R.E.M.'s early stuff on IRS, but think they lost their touch when they went to Warner.

Snow patrol used to be good, but i agree with al, sad!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It's just mine is right and yours is wrong.

Anyway, I mostly dislike the 80s stuff, some gems but largely crap.

Bob Dylan is a biggie for me...just can't listen to his voice, though I know he's an amazing songwriter. Also not a big fan of the Rolling Stones - some early stuff is as good as rock gets, but not enough of their catalog interests me. I don't get a lot of the stuff that was mega-popular and quite influential in early-to-mid '90s British music - the Stone Roses, the Verve and Oasis completely passed me by. And Amy Winehouse isn't (wasn't) as good as everyone seems to think she is (was). She's got a voice but it isn't as earth-shattering as the hype in the press made it seem. Maybe I only get cranky about her because I'm old, but this type of music has been done before, and I'd rather listen to original, classic soul singers than to a meticulously crafted imposter.
