A pal of mine wants to see a gig fromt he cheap seat in an arena and will not take word fro it it that it cannot be fun, so again I have to say THANK YOU MRSWOAM for being a true fan and fan of the fans!
Glad the tickets ended up where they would be appreciated, but the real thanks should go to my work colleague who ended up not being able to go and had to try and shift his tickets at short notice - so I bought them!
I hope he's in tomorrow so I can rub it in, er, sympathise with him for the treat he missed.

What a wonderful night - so emotional, electric. I didn't post yesterday, because, to tell the truth, I felt absolutely bereft. I can't believe it's going to be YEARS till we all see them again. After a good night's sleep though (who's idea was it to have a chinese at 3 in the morning!), I'm lot more chipper. It was just brilliant to see everyone again and you, Sunday Girl - hope you come back soon. So sorry I didn't get to have a chat Nellie. I think what made this gig more special than any other for me was the fact we were all together, singing our hearts out and not giving a damn what anyone else thought around us. It was great to meet you as well, Mr and Mrs P - you must be so proud of your lads.
BTW, I've been looking on Youtube for any footage of Mexican Standoff, but as usual it's the same songs posted. However, I had to laugh when I saw this one - notice anything on stage!.....
I've passed your message passed onto Sunday Girl, Ticky.
We couldn't get to Manchester in time for the meet up and I tried my best to spot someone in MEN at barrier from forum - but no luck! Think you were all on opp side to us. May be one day.

Seeing as I'm on my iPhone, it's probably easier to bullet my thoughts:
- Felt like having a good moan about the predictable setlist until they started playing the intro to Bitten By The Tailfly. Sounded better than ever before, I thought. Scattered Black & Whites was a pleasant surprise too. Would've loved them to throw in something else a bit different too, but with it being an Arena gig, I should be grateful for what we got. - I've never heard a band sound better than that in the MEN Arena. - I was dreading people talking throughout the songs, but I think we struck lucky with where we were stood. Still, sad to see people in the seats streaming to the bar during the likes of Newborn. - The Fiery Furnaces were awesome, although I think I was probably the only person there who thought so. - Don't think anyone's mentioned that Elbow were onstage for over 2 hours. Great value for £25. - The visuals were ace. - I still don't think Some Riot works live. The guitar just sounds out of place to me.
Anyway, I'd give it all 9/10. Good stuff.

What a great night. I won't try to express how good the band were as it's already been done so much better than I can put it. So, special bits for me were:
1.The conversion of mrs sparky. She was a bit overwhelmed by it all at first (previous gig history Three Degrees 1978, Prefab Sprout 2000, Blue 2005 ) but came along to see what all the fuss was about and to see why I'd been to see them 7 times. She loved it.
2. Receiving a call from my son who was at the Pete Tong gig in Eden, Ibiza at 5am on Saturday morning "Alright dad, how was Guy?"
3. A crazy lady (could have been somebody from here ), Friday lunchtime on Cross St (on seeing my cube T shirt) giving me high five and shouting "Yeah, Elbow tonight"
4. Being stood two from the front, and knowing many of the people around us made it feel like a cosy gig. I had to turn around to remind myself we were in the MEN
5. Meeting you lot again . What a nice bunch of folk you are. If anybody is ever in "Yooxton", you are welcome to call in for a brew

Goodness, thats quite a comparison! I might not go that far but thank you, when I saw it come up on my camera playback I thought it was something quite special.

so I finally made it back home very very late last night. a long yet satisfying weekend. a real pleasure to meet so many of you lovely folks
amazinng gig, my personal highlight would probably be bitten by the tailfly - nice to hear some older material! close second would probably be station approach. loved the pyrotechnics. loved the string quartets opening set (and didn't actually realise there was a band playing since the overzealous security made us all sit down... I thought the music was coming over the PA!)

What a wonderful, wonderful night! Highlights: - Bitten by the Tailfly (!!!!!!!!) - Getting right up front (worth the wait as it seemed just like a smaller, intimate Elbow gig!) - The pyrotechnics (ok, so I'm a sucker for a bit of showbiz...) - Weather to Fly (my FAVE song! Apologies to those around me for blubbing... ) - Getting a wink of Guy as he was going past (lovely!) - Being surrounded by all you lovely people from this here forum which made it all extra special! - Meeting some forum members I hadn't met before and re-acquainting myself with those I met last July. - The 2am Chinese dinner!
Once again, a fabulous evening made all the more amazing by being with all you guys. You are all FAB! And thank you SO much, MrsW for the 'Elbow in Amsterdam' DVD. My fave ever Elbow gig! Now I just have to find a way to get my right leg over to you, as promised!

Hiya all, so chuffed everyone was 'having the times of their lives'.........I did, after nearly getting lynched by a bouncer after going into the seats by mistake and vaulting over into the walkway, and then after attempting to get into the standing, the showing of my standing ticket slightly placated the very pi*sed off gorilla !! Boy oh boy, was he unhappy, anyway he frogmarched me all the way to the back of the standing and in.....
8 of us were there, which included 2 Elbow virgins, who absolutely fell in love with them. It was easily the best gig I've been to there, was so pleased I wasn't in the seats, the Bridgwater was murder having to stifle myself !! and was able to act like a total, vocal obsessive that I am.
Loved the screens, the choir, the setlist, that was the 2nd time I've heard them do '....Tailfly' I think, I really did feel like the only one who knew it near me.
Some great, constructive reviews on this thread.
To think that MBV's all time favourite band may not return to the live scene til 2011/12 'does not compute' with me !!
Congratulations to the band for finally getting the critical acclaim they so deserve, enjoy your time off/Kloot stuff/songwriting and MUCH LOVE TO ALL !! x

I was standing next to the group of boardies, i saw sombreros and mirrorballearings but i never got around to go and say hello. brilliant gig though.
BUT i have to say, for being the "last hurrah" for TSSK-tour im not THAT impresses, dont get me wrong, it was brilliant, but i think that the wembley gig would have been a better "see you next time-gig" than this one in MEN. I can't put my finger on it.. but thats just wahat i thought. Had a brilliant time as ever though.

They look so happy on the last pic...I hope that they stay happy...it is so moving to get applause, I know how it feels (though I am just a hobby singer) I hope it stays around here...(minus the folks who talk during quiet songs...) I could even get along with a concert gap...New Model Army have one too...

Cracking pictures and thanks Andy Landy for the download of the gig. I wondered if you would do that again. Can't wait to play, a bit of a consulation prize as we couldn't be there in person. Everyone's accounts and the pictures have really been great and gone a little way to making up for our absence.
Cheers
