| That setlist (Fugitive Motel, not the Fix) was the same at Birmingham - a wonderful evening, great music and brilliant banter between the songs. (Air wobbling?!) Good to see them live again after over 2 years! Of course there are always songs that they didn't play you'd love to hear - I agree particularly with Weather to Fly from SSK, and of course there's the whole back catalogue to choose from - personally I wanted to see MacGreggor which they started to play just after I last saw them and have now dropped from the setlist. But that aside it was wonderful to see them live again and a great atmosphere! | |

| I was so happy to see this thread. I've been dying of curiosity.
I'll be seeing them in NYC this month and am very much looking forward to it.

| Thrilled to see what's on the set list, especially Red. But gutted not to see Weather to Fly, my absolute fav track on SSK. By the way, can any of you guys who have seen the show so far, tell me how Tower Crane Driver works out live? I love the track on the album but just wonder how it stands up in a live situation, seeing as it's such an epic! | |

| It is fanf*ckintasic...
Saw them twice on this tour and each time Garvey sings "send up a prayer in my name", it was bliss.
Personally, I was disappointed not to hear 'MacGregor'-apparently it was a close decision whether or not to include it.

By the way, can any of you guys who have seen the show so far, tell me how Tower Crane Driver works out live? I love the track on the album but just wonder how it stands up in a live situation, seeing as it's such an epic! See my review of the Birmingham Gig in its own thread - Tower Crane was extraordinary. I have a problem with bands who bring nothing to live renditions - i.e. you could just as well listen to the record. Saying that, although Elbow's performance of TLOTTCD was extremely faithful to the album version, it was incredible - none of the really interesting twists and turns, changes in tempo and time signature were lost in the live performance. It might not have been my absolute favourite moment of the gig (it might...) but it was certainly the most impressive. If you are due to catch them on tour and they keep it in the set you will be astonished at how good it is. That track as much as any was confirmation of just how good they are live - credit too to the sound man who mixed the levels to absolute perfection. As I have said in the other thread, sorry for seemingly going on and on about how good the sound was, but I was blown away. Too often I think we put up with mediocre sound just because we are caught up in the excitement of seeing one of our favourite bands live. We can become too easily satisfied... Enjoy! ben

| That's all really good news. I love the track but was a bit surprised to see it on the set list as I thought it would be a hard one to pull off live. Guess I should have a little more faith! Can't wait for the 2 gigs! So excited, I'm like a child waiting for xmas!!! | |
