| Give it time mate, give it time....Some top tunes that got me into them was Here it comes, Catch the sun, and Pounding from their 2nd album. If you like more mellow tunes I'd recommend Far From Grace, Ambition and The Man Who Told Everything maybe....In my mind I rank them a bit higher than Elbow actually, sorry!! but you can prob tell that from my avatar | |

| I too like Doves, and think Some Cities is a very good album. I particularly like the piano driven rush of Black & White Town, a great rock song. and there's some good stuff on other albums too. I can see why they are often grouped with Elbow, (guitar based indie/rock, from around Manchester etc) but to my mind are a quite different animal, more of an immediate hit whereas Elbow songs tend to take time to appreciate, and to grow on you. They support God's own football team as well... | |

Thanks for those - good quality and Doves are sounding good and very jolly I have to say. Looking at the filenames it seems as if the rest of the gig may be available. That would be good.
Thanks again. | |

Gonna be a big year for Doves, methinks. As much as I like Doves, I'm not sure a big year starts at Warrington Parr Hall... But then, what do I know?

| Seem em loads of times, live.......have heard Jetstream and Kingdom of Rust, and the latter especially, are great. City fans and top lads by all accounts. Lost Souls is one of my favourite LP's ever. Jimi's got one of those mournful and yearning voices, they can lift and elevate you, yet also leave you feeling reflective.........just like Bury's finest. April 26 can't come quick enough. | |

They're not bad (and as a rockier band than Elbow they're certainly better than the likes of Snow Patrol) but nothing I've heard of theirs really seems to stand out that much. Perhaps I need to give them a few more listens. pleased to say, almost a year on, I'm eating my words. Absolutely love Kingdom of Rust.
