Yes, I think it was brave of Doves to do some they don't normally play anymore, because the choir wanted to be part that song, even if they themselves are not that keen. That IS collaboration, and got a great reception well worth it, and for Jimi to ask the choir to do an encore of one of their own songs too :-) (not on the coverage, unfortunately) just as the band had done some on their own. I wasn't even there, but could tell it was a very special evening, on listening live on the night and then watching the BBC2 shorter coverage later that night. Have since watched the extended stream again on the Electric Proms site, and have got the audio of the set playing on my walkman now. They worked so well together when they did. It wasn't gushing or over the top, just genuine enjoyment of how that band and that style of choral voice complimented for a glorious sound. Great you got to go

| Went to the GMEX gig last Friday and despite seeing a lot of mixed reports (too big for Jimi's voice, Hungarian choir not great, subdued crowd), I thought it was ace where I was down the front.
A belting setlist with House of Mirrors a welcome addition, would agree though that the choir do Firesuite a disservice, especially because that was the first song I adored by Doves.
Shame I missed SFA but needed a few pints in town after a very testing day, shall we say.
Well done lads on a tremendous and well deserved year, PLEASE don't leave it that long again.

| Seeing the choir live reinforced my own impression, that they add nothing for me at least and actually drowned the lads out at times. Great gig all the same and my first time at the GMex too | |

| I really enjoyed it,but was right on the barrier at the front and thought it sounded great. The band looking like they were having a ball too,and I love the choir, so I was well happy. I'd seen them at the Cockpit on Monday (tiny gig about 200 peeps) so was able to have a nice 'compare and contrast' experience...not much difference in the set lists except, no Space face in Leeds....and it was much more relaxed ,and no pushing, and dicks chucking beer etc . I'm black and blue from gmex! SFA were ace too, really short set tho' maybe about 20 mins ....and quite frankly I'd be happy never to see the interminable Delphic again ... I should imagine Doves will be out on the road again in the spring, as they'll be touring the compilation album thing . | |

| owh man, Doves doves doves. the whole damn reason i got into UK indie music scene.
my history with Doves was that i heard their "There goes the fear" one day, and i didnt immediately look for their stuff. instead, the tune stucked in my brain when i was down, and i was like "u know what, this is irritating, got to listen to that bloody song that stucks my head" than BOOM. im in love ;D
well, i admit i do fancy Doves more than Elbow. but they are both good bands. ill probably die if they do gigs at the same time but diff locations. :S
hopefully one day ill get to see them. i live the other side of the world. and again.. its ALWAYS the keyboardist...

| I bought "Lost Souls" after hearing so many good things from fellow Elbow fans and from the band themselves. I have to admit it took quite a bit of listening but it turned out to be one of those albums I have appreciated more with time. =)
I want to buy another of their albums. Anyone recommend the next one I should buy? =) x

Anyone recommend the next one I should buy? =) x Great taste Adderz - the next logical step musically after that would be 'Some Cities', which I guess is the most similar to 'Lost Souls', if that's possible. However 'The Places Between', their best of, cuts through all 4 albums and some - yeah sod it - that's what I'd advise !

| Well tonight I'm off to see Jimi Goodwin live in Hebden Bridge on the second date of his warm up tour for the Elbow arena tour.
Last night in York, he played 3 Doves songs, 'Snowden' 'Lost Souls' & 'Last Broadcast'.
Can't wait to hear Jimi's album in full when it's released in 3 -4 weeks, but tonight I'm incredibly excited - just love Doves and have heard some of Jimi's solo tunes and they are great.

What was jimi's gig like?? OK bud - the gig was excellent. Trades Club is a brilliant and very friendly venue ; just 190 it holds and it was full. Played the above 3 songs from Doves, which were an utter joy ; his solo stuff is ace, most songs all very different from each other ; 'Terracotta Warrior' was the opener, a really heavy grungy (don't lose me, now) intro and then the song takes off beautifully, my favourite.....another had a really dancey opening to it and will take a bit of getting used, quite a dancey opening to that one. The setlist just ebbed and flowed fantastically. 'Didsbury Girl' I've heard for quite a while now and adore it. All in all, Jimi was in fine fettle and I've bought tickets for his Manchester gig in May, just this morning.
