Doves

Does anybody else think the Doves (elbow's bezzy mates) are one of the best bands ever?

I have to agree with you there.

They're OK. I've got all the albums but I don't play them too much.

They alllways appear on websites as similar to Elbow. That's all I can say! I reckon my mate will get some eventually and I'll listen then

I bought 'Lost Souls' in a Woollies remainder bin mainly because of the Elbow comparisons, but was a bit disappointed (in fact, it's on my list of CDs to bung on Ebay).

They're not bad (and as a rockier band than Elbow they're certainly better than the likes of Snow Patrol) but nothing I've heard of theirs really seems to stand out that much. Perhaps I need to give them a few more listens.

The only album I own is Some Cities and I'm a fan of it...Soon, I'll get the rest of the albums and listen to them...

Doves are good but some of their tracks are skippable. They don't have the same beauty as Elbow sadly but still another good Manc band. 'Words', 'The Cedar Room', 'Caught By The River' and 'Black And White Town' are my favourites.

There's been talks about a new album this fall, but it's just rumours....last I heard the lads were just finished recording some stuff and was going to write some more. I reckon the new albums out either november/december or january 2009

Yeah there's been a couple of mentions of this and Guy played some new stuff on finest hour recently, I soo can't wait to see an album release!

Really, did he?? Damn, that would have been wicked to hear. I must have missed it then..usually listen to his show every week but I've missed some lately....

I only remember one time, it was a quite while ago when he played one Doves Demo which reminded me a lot on "You know you know" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Haven't noticed any more new Doves Demos and I can't remember missing one show of Guy...
But he played older tracks a few times

Are you talking about this "Demo heaven" thingy when Guy talked to Jimi Goodwin? They played a demo which Jimi had recorded in his kitchen or something if I don't remember it wrong....

Yeah, he's been playing Sea Song a couple of times and I think he played Caught By The River and The Man Who Told Everything not long ago.....Always a nice surprise to hear some Doves tunes on the radio

Yea, I think it was that one. And Jimi was singing a jingle for the "Demo Heaven"

yeah ok, cool. I've got that bit actually...some nice bloke ripped it and made it available for download on the Doves forum I think, not sure if the link still works ...If anyone else wants it send me a PM and I'll email it!
