How'd you mean?

By Boy/Girl I mean bands with female and male vocalists.

Not kids...

They all write their own records...

only heard of The Delgados out of that lot.

One of my favourites from the mid-90s was Scarce - a trio from New England with Chick Graning and Joyce Raskin both on lead vocals (plus a Spinal Tap-esque series of drummers). I've never heard anyone quite like them, before or since. They've recently re-formed, check their myspace >here<

Stars are the most utterly beautiful band. Everyone should listen to their first album, at least.

Neon Neon
Blood Red Shoes
The Like Young (they broke up, but they were amazing.)
FORWARD RUSSIA.
The Shout Out Louds

And about 100 more.

Don't just listen to the first Stars album, listen to all 4! They're also one of my favourite bands, as are the Delgados.

Liking the sound of Neon Neon so far Carah, but I've only heard stuff on 6Music. I take it the album's good?

I'm not a fan of Forward Russia at all, eek. Shows you how much I know though, I thought it was just a chap who sang. Have only heard a couple of songs...

Stars...good call! cheers

I like the Weepies, a husband & wife folk/pop band. They've got some nice tunes...also quite fond of Yo La Tengo. For my money though, the most exciting pairing of male/female vocalists ever was John Doe and Exene Cervenka of X. The harmonies they created were crazy and wild and they really shouldn't have worked, but they did. I think it's just gorgeous whenevr I hear 'em.

Don't worry, NO ONE is a fan of Forward Russia, really.
It's not exactly easy listening!

I kinda cheated on that one. Katie (the drummer) sings on about 5/6 tracks.

Do Jefferson Airplane count? Certainly wonderful male and female vocals/harmonies.
(This is actually on (Elbow) topic, sort of, as 've just been inspired to dig out a couple of old Jefferson Airplane albums after listening to Fleet Foxes who are supporting Elbow at Meltdown...)

Adding onto the list:
The Kills
Fleetwood Mac
The Raveonettes
The Knife
Yo La Tengo

And there are some that are more on the lines of a collaboration than an actual band: She's Spanish, I'm American (Josh Rouse and his girlfriend), She & Him (Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward), and numerous others.

I love M. Ward, so so much.

Feist/Kings of Convenience was pretty awesome.

I've been hoping for some more Erlend/Feist collaborations because the two tracks off of Riot on an Empty Street isn't enough. Have you had the chance to check out She & Him? I'd recommend it if you love his music.

Can't make my mind up on Fleet Foxes yet. A bit too CSNY at times. Having said that I quite like what I've heard so far.

Going slightly OT for a minute; I'm a bit confused by this thread scratch

Shouldn't the title just be Bands

For me Boy/Girl Bands is the definition of manufactured bands?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

I was meaning 'boy/girl' as in bands that have a male vocalist and a female vocalist.

I guess I should have thought it through a bit better... scratch

Aaaah! With you now. Smile

Duhh! If I'd paid more attention to the first three or four posts I might have saved you from posting the same answer again. Wink

I forget they're a boy/girl band! Win's vocals always remind me of Ian McCulloch from Echo & The Bunnymen.
