And well done to City by the way....I'll be cheering you on in the final.
Cheers hesh - very nice of you to say so.....it was a WONDERFUL day, one to treasure forever - when you've been to Wycombe, Barnet, Stockport, Lincoln, Brentford and the like, and seen us lose, it makes you appreciate days like that....

Nice on Chrissy Boy - first time I've heard that, and while not being as good as the original, it's great.
Love Embrace, brought back some bittersweet memories did that.....

Two great bands that have put out debuts recently:
^ Cults
^ Foster the People
EDIT: I don't know why the tags are acting up. I used them just a minute ago, and they worked just fine. Sorry.

The new TV On The Radio album....Nine Types of Light.....is awesome. Like, double awesome. I usually don't LOVE them, but this album I definitely LOVE. Seriously, it's gooooood.
I agree 100%, one of the best albums I've heard this year.
My recommendation is Daniel Lanois. Well-known producer (U2, Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan,...) but he has also made albums himself. 'Acadie' and 'For The Beauty Of Wynona' are two of my all time favorite albums.

I can second this; their 7" was amazing, and the album is growing to a similar level for me. Good stuff indeed.

Cashier No 9 - epic performance at Truck - sounds like a mixture of Stone Roses, Beach Boys and Echo and the Bunnymen - LOVE them!
Also - Liam Finn - son of Neil - another stunning performance this weekend.

Only found Chrissie's comments recently, but I mentioned something on the Glastonbury thread about wanting to investigate TVOTR further. So I bought Nine Types Of Light.
Chrissie, you are absolutely correct. This album does NOT suck.

Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! Like I said, I'm not a rabid TVOTR fan or anything, but this particular album was done extremely well. I agree with Nancy's comment - I think it's one of the best of the year as well.
My friend recently sent me a couple of mp3s by a band I'd never heard of before, Portugal. The Man - they are coming here in concert in October as part of the Langerado festival, so I may see them there. I ended up downloading the album last night. They are kinda all over the place - some tracks are dreamy, semi-psych rock and others are more rock/pop sounding. Overall, not bad. Latest album, In the Mountain in the Cloud, is streaming here if you want to give them a listen. http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2011/07/album-stream-portugal-the-man---in-the-mountain-in.html

I love them and they are on Bella Union, in my eyes Simon Raymonde can do no wrong. That record label is one fo the finest.

The Walkmen. Listeners of Guy's finest hour will know this is one of his favorite bands too.
I first got to know them when I heard their single 'In The New Year'. It's on the album 'You & Me' which is a fantastic album. Last year's album 'Lisbon' is also highly recommended.
It is strange that they are not more popular. I saw them live last year in November in a small venue in Antwerp and I couldn't believe that it wasn't sold out. Excellent live band. It is really an underrated band.

Haven't heard the full album yet but this song has been stuck in my head for some weeks now, great song, it's a huge hit here.
