Having seen The Flaming Lips there last year, it's a stunning venue. A spine-tingling finale with HUGE visuals projected onto the Lovell Telescope makes for literally the biggest intro you may ever experience:

Lets see how ticket sales are handled for this one in light of the duplicity of late. Will it be through Metropolis? What will be in place so real fans get a look in? I used to look forward to going to the next elbow gig, when ticket buying for them was simple, but the stress of trying to get a ticket on the primary market now for them, without it being laundered first by touts to hike up the prices 2 or 3 times face value or more has totally put me off. I haven't been able to buy a ticket legitimately for the last year now.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm not looking forward to the stress of trying to get tickets at 9am on Thursday. :-(

Well it doesn't appear to be through Ticketmaster so 'getMeIn' are probably not included, so that is something! That just leaves whether http://www.livefromjodrellbank.com/tickets have given an allocation to Viagogo, Seatwave etc or to the Powersellers on Ebay and the like. How have previous jodrellbank events been handled? Will all the tickets go on sale to public at 9am on March 1st?

Yes, it looks like all tickets go on sale at 9am on March 1st for public. Just read that last year's Jodrell Bank gig had a capacity of 5000! Don't know if that's correct but if it is then getting tickets is going to be a nightmare. :-(

D'yer know, I'm really torn by this.
It's a week before Stone Roses but it's Elbow.
Am I willing to pay £40 quid for the same setlist as last year ? Probably not.
This needs some thought.

Maybe they will swop a couple of songs round and say its a different setlist chosen especially
And I wonder how much of a nightmare it would Really be getting tickets, if touts wern't buying most of them all up, the minute they were released? Before 'online tout time' getting an Elbow ticket used to be a leisurely, even late on affair. It is 4 months in advance of gig.

Steve, if I could I would - every other Friday I'm in work late due to the school run, ie. this Friday - won't get in til around 9.30am.
Sorry mate, especially as I think the head will rule the heart on this gig.

I'll probably go (ticket permitting) - Is anyone else going to camp/stay nearby? I don't fancy a round trip back to Newport in one day.

Lets see how soon after 9am the number of tickets appear on Viagogo, Seatwave, Getmein and Ebay and how much for. Touting employees of secondary agencies were recorded on the Dispatches channel 4 programme saying they increased price according to perceived demand. Thats why not getting desperate and waiting till nearer the gig date, there is likely to still be tickets around at face value or under, if the full ticket allocation to primary, ticketline has been undermined, and the secondaries have already got them.
If enough people had refused to be robbed with the ridiculous reseller prices, it wouldn't have got as bad as it is now.
So I really hope I'm wrong about these going to secondaries too, and that something has been done, so these tickets are sold from ticketline straight to gig goers, not straight back to re-sale sites at silly inflated prices. Those of you who are wanting to go, hope you can.

Best of luck to everyone trying for tickets tomorrow. I won't be trying on a hen weekend in Cheshire that weekend with an old school mate. Hope you get lucky.

Ugh I'm really torn on this one too. It's a very long way to travel, and with the upcoming wedding it's already a very expensive year... And yes it's a special one-off show but is the setlist really likely to be any different? I think not. Knowing me, I'll probably end up trying for tickets anyways though.
Good luck to everyone who wants 'em.
