| That was the most amazing evening!! I still begin to shake when I think about it. I absolutely loved the concert - stand out songs would probably be Open Arms, The Night Will Always Win, Weather to Fly, Station Approach, and (of course) Great Expecations! I was so shocked and overwhelmed when Guy called out my name and dedicated Great Expectations to me - the most I was hoping for was eye contact with one of the band members at some point during the show and that was definitely more than I could have imagined!! Great Expectations is one of my absolute favourite Elbow songs too so it was so perfect. And I felt so privileged to be able to meet all of the band members after the concert! They were so lovely and friendly (I was so shocked that Guy even remembered my name when he saw me!). It still feels surreal. It was really nice meeting other Elbow fans too It's quite rare to find people who really listen to much Elbow in Canada so it was really refreshing! Now I can put faces to some of the usernames I always see haha. And a huge thank you to Frances for pretty much everything!! That was such an unforgettable experience, and I really owe it to you Can't wait until I see them again in Cardiff! | |

| Emylou123 - I bet!!! And you Emma - proper jammy ;-)
Let's hope Guy and the lads never allow fame to taint them like so many great bands before. They are so bl00dy humble and grounded, love 'em!
Anyone else think that Open Arms is going to perhaps replace One Day Like This as their anthemic gig closer? LOVED IT!
Also - what the hell was wrong with those 'pro' photographers at the beginning? One idiot was holding his camera at arms length and on tip-toes. Man, he really irritated me. Could hear his shutter in Guy's microphone at one point. Grrr.

| the main issue I have with the 'pro' photographers is that their pics never see the light of day all this talk of other tour dates... so I'd previously decided to skip the arena tour, nothing was particularly convenient. now I'm having second thoughts! aaaarr! | |

Haha, I need all the help I can get. It really was an amazing night and great to meet up with you all again, or for the first time in some cases. Thanks go especially to Jones and Ticky and Phil (and... damn, can't remember the fourth name ) for being such wonderful company in the queue all day. The night was made even better by the unrivalled wonderfulness of Elbow fans in general and in one night I seem to have about tripled my Elbow memorabilia. I love you guys!! Also a special message to Phil who was at the front of the queue with us all day and who was stood next to me at the front barrier - we need your photos! Particularly your photo of Guy's setlist which had Emma's name written next to Great Expectations. I was talking to Emma after the show and mentioned this, and she would really love a copy. You mentioned you peruse the forums even though you're not signed up so here's hoping you will see this. Please get in touch (sign up, g'wan) and let's get her a copy!

It was really nice meeting you all and I'm so happy we all managed to complete our quest of getting our setlists and records signed by everyone! haha And I would really really love that! I still think it's hilarious that you were googling my name when you saw the setlist. It's too bad I didn't make a recording of them playing Great Expectations but a photo of the setlist would be wonderful as a memento

but, it's good they're not in a way.........
the best gig I've ever been to. Guy's like a standup comedian/singer when he's working the crowd.

When she informed the queue that it was her birthday and was 'desperate for a ticket' as she'd come 'all the way from London' everyone starting to just sing 'Happy Birthday' to her - so cruel ;-)
That was hysterical, good lotta people in the queue. Your username makes me laugh everytime I see it Although he didn't make his £100 after all, a kind lady a few people back also had a spare ticket and let her have it for £20 I'm still not sure why you would be in any queue for a gig with a spare ticket in your pocket? Especially an elbow gig. Was a brilliant concert, I've also got tickets for Manchester and the O2, wondering whether to sneak in a trip to Birmingham before then though Is that bordering on the obsessive![left]

| Stupendous night - utterly knackered now - only had about 3 hours sleep in a freezing cold contractors' B and B. It was so great to meet new faces - Longlegs, Oneofthethree, Cestrian Saint, Mitchy and Emma and to see lots of old faces. The new music is fab - I really liked The Birds, The (K)Night (!) will always win, Open Arms, but I'm not too sure about With Love. Mind you, trying to clap to the rhythm of Car Wash and sing With Love was a little like patting your head and rubbing your tummy simultaneously! In fact, I could have had the whole gig made up of new stuff and a few less SSK. The lads looked so happy to be on stage - lots of smiles all night long and Guy's banter is stuff of legend. The rapping in ODLT was hysterical, as was Guy when he forgot the words to Starlings and we all had to help him out. Lovely to hear Puncture Repair and Great Expectations, as well as Station Approach, which is my favourite live song. Weather to Fly was perfect (as usual) and they are still doing the little drinkiepoos on stage - Love it! Personally, I'm pleased that Newborn wasn't there - as I've never been a big fan of it (don't shoot me). We were all so lucky to meet the lads afterwards - what a thoroughly nice bunch of people they are - so welcoming and friendly. I don't think that gig can be topped, not only for the music, but for meeting the band, getting a setlist AND of course, seeing all you lot again.

| Just home from a wonderful gig; - it was awesome! Myself and Ticky were 3rd and 4th in the queue, after keeping a beady eye on the door from the comfort of Nandos across the way Shortly after that we were joined by Kim and David and it was so lovely to be in their company again; lots of fun! The two lads at the top of the queue were great too, we really kept each other's spirits up during a very cold day! Loved the new stuff, especially The Birds (wow!!!!! amazing!!!) and The Night Will Always Win, standing out for me. Would really love to hear 'Rochdale Girl' live but as this was just a warm up gig, who knows...? Absolutely, absolutely, delighted they kept in my favourite song ('Weather to Fly' for anyone who didn't already know ) although I'm afraid I did make a bit of a fool of myself by welling up... 'Just sooo pleased it's still there!!!!!! I agree that it would be great to hear some of the older stuff again at some point, but don't forget, these guys have been playing them for so many years now, its probably time for a bit of a break and move on. It will be all the more special when they do throw one in here and there! Although SBAW was sorely missed! All in all: an absolutely fantastic evening; - amazing music, wonderful atmosphere and all you lovely forum people made it a truly memorable one! Once again, I feel very priviliged to have been there... | |

| I saw the guys last night for the second time and agree with all your positive comments. I took my wife who was an Elbow virgin . We were dead in line with Guy about three rows back . Talk about close !! I thought "The Birds" was a little muffled with Guys voice unclear in parts but they soon seemed to sort that out . Rest of set was spot on . Saw them on the culture show tonight on BBC2 which only reinforced how genuine and real they all are .
Very jealous of you guys who got the Backstage passes but it was great to share the concert with you all , I must admit to feeling very priviliged
Heres to the next time ! | |

| It all sounded amazing guys and dolls - really pleased the night 'hit the spot'.....I'm aching for the album on Monday as I've only heard '...Rochdale Girl', 'Lippy Kids' and 'NLR'....purposely steered away from any snippets and leaks.
Sheffield and Manchester cannot come quick enough.

I cried so much during Great Expectations I couldn't sing along. Nowt up with that Kim - when I tackle a bottle of Pinot Grigio and 'Leaders....', it always ends in man tears - proper in touch with my feminine side I am ! Great Expectations would be a more than happy swap for Newborn if we can't have both.....let's hope I can curb my drink before the gigs....*ahem*
