Its like the Good Life on here
We've only managed about a dozen strawberries - that's a major improvement on last year when everytime we though we had a ripe one - something came and ate half of it !!
Wasn't blessed with green-fingers.

Wasn't sure where else to post this but it did make me laugh, so...
Since I have just completed my annual summer reading of Gone With the Wind, I felt like watching the film as well. The other evening while I was watching it, I realized that my hyper, psychotic dog, Flash, was not annoying the crap out of me as she is wont to do whenever my arse hits the sofa. Usually this means she is off in another room, chewing on something she shouldn't. But this time, I looked down and realized she was on the floor, watching the movie. I mean, WATCHING it...not moving a muscle and staring right at Scarlett and Gerald O'Hara as they walked the grounds of Tara. She mustv'e done this for about 5 full minutes or so before I thought to try and video her. Luckily I had my iPhone handy, and though it takes a crap picture it did capture the dog enjoying the movie. If you are interested in what a dog watching Gone With the Wind might look like, enjoy:

She should become a film critic! She couldn't be worse than some of them out there! Have you tried her with 'Lassie' or 'Beethoven'? 'Love to see her reaction to those!

Lots making me smile today. Mr. Chrissie just returned from a visit to Scotland, and he brought back loads of gifts for me and my daughter. He was unpacking everything last night and it looks like Christmas out in our front room today! Lots of yummy goodies (Quality Street tins, Thornton's toffees, Cadbury buttons and Terry's Chocolate Oranges galore), some books, DVDs and CDs that I wouldn't find round here, and other assorted delights. But out of everything he brought, my daughter was most pleased with this little oddity - scented body wash in a container that looks like her fave Top Gear bloke, The Stig:

So Al just brought Sing Star Guitar only for us to discover Elbow's - Grounds For Divorce. I've given it a go and it's so much fun, the video does have a tendency to distract me!

I knew that was coming...hopefully it'll be on the SingStore cos I don't think it's coming out in Canada...Mind you, I don't own a plastic guitar, and it's too high for me to sing anyway.
You better get a PSEye and post some videos!

I've just bought a saxophone on ebay for my son Oscar for Christmas. He's been desperate to learn for about a year or so, so I think he should be really happy with his present this year. What with Caitilin playing mandolin and ukele and me on piano - we're turning into a really musical family.

Aw, that's fantastic, Ticky! I'll be looking out for your debut album!
My little guy asked for... Lego! Am thrilled that he's chosen this lo-tech option!

That makes 2 of us, Ticky...let us know when to expect the family band to be on tour! My duaghter's been doing pretty well with her drum lessons so maybe she can sit in as a session drummer for your band sometime! She was just Student of the Month at her music school last month. *proud*
And Jones, I wish my kid asked for something like Lego. She's got more expensive tastes...she wants new, upgraded drum gear (kick pedal, crash and high hat cymbals), and - if it's not too much trouble for Santa - a new game or two for the Wii.

That's fab Chrissie - Ozzie had a bash at the drums (no pun intended ) a few years ago and (thankfully) he wasn't too interested. I do miss lego though.

lo-tech maybe - but have you seen the price of some Lego these days. my wee lad picked this one out of a book a couple of years ago and when he asked me for a lego death star - i said yeah no problem.... then looked at the price - suffice to say he didnt get it !!!

One little thing that makes me grin is the sudden noiseattack at Mogwai's live version of "Mogwai fear Satan"

I know, but I still much prefer Santa to give him Lego than another Playstation3 / XBox / WII game.
So, Hogwart's Castle, it is!

Actually, can't wait for the two of us to play with it on Christmas Day!
BTW: We were watching telly the other night when the Tesco Half-Price Toys ad came on and he said to me: "What idiot would buy any toys now???? Sure, it's nearly Christmas!!!"

Erm, well there's no 'Little Things That Make You Blush' - thread, so I'm putting it here;
I think I may have told the trumpet player from The National that I loved him, ha ha... Well, it was 4am and a number of gins and tonic had been consumed. The poor man was very gracious and thanked me kindly before stepping away... Mmm, I'm sure I'll be able to laugh about it some day...
