| Oh hoh hoh... well, I grew up listening to my dad's vinyl collection; my first vinyl of my own was Nirvana's Nevermind, I musta been about 4. Closely followed by the single of Genesis' Abacab. My era of creating my own mixtapes from my vinyls followed... pointless exercise but it kept me entertained. First CD I bought with my own money... Eiffel 65. I would've been around... 11. xD I distinctly remember my dad wailing about where it all went wrong. | |

| Aside from real kids records with children's songs or the obligatory "Peter and the Wolf" my real first record was Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here" with sticker and white cover with the photoes. For an east german like me something really precious! How happy I was to be able to listen to the full "Shine on" in good quality. Had only a bad cassette tape where the ending was missing and the sound was terribly muffled. Not sure how old I was, but I was surely a pre-teen, because with 7 I was Led Zeppelin-Fan yet | |

| Oh fellows, what's the matter. Noone needs to be ashamed or blushy about this... We were probably around 10-15 when everyone bought their first CDs, soooo what! Taste changes. For me I still remember lying at the couch when I was around 5 or 6 and worshipping Al Bano and Romina Power (Italian singer couple - very popular in Germany in the 80s). Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0wZQbK938YJeez, looking this video, I still love him! *LOL* When you're young it's not about lyrics or music... It's wether you like it or not...! My first CD - Bravo Hits 13 (Chart combilation) First Single - Apollo 440 - Ain't talkin' 'bout dub | |

We were probably around 10-15 when everyone bought their first CDs, CDs??? Speak for yourself Some of us here had to wait years before they came out. I 'd been buying vinyl records for over a decade before CDs appeared. I've still got them as well although I hardly ever play them. All the best stuff did get re-bought on CD.

| HaHa this thread is very entertaining, my first single was Dancing Queen by ABBA, bought off my brother for 4p. First album was Double Fantasy by John Lennon, me and my sister saved up and bought it between us. First cd (many years later) was Kiss Kiss by The Cure-I really wanted it but didn't even have a cd player had to take it to my mates to play it! | |

All the best stuff did get re-bought on CD. My thoughts exactly when I saw "CDs" More or less the same experience - I kept intending to learn how to import LPs onto the computer and convert to MP3 but by the time I did so I'd bought most of the CDs anyway - TamedLamia wrote:

Happy memories. One of my first too, except it was my Dad who bought it - and took it back to the shop because of the bit where the radio cuts in before the title track - thought there was something wrong with the record! Don't laugh - the guy in the record shop listened to it, agreed, and replaced it! Somehow it became kind of our family's "our tune" in the 70s; about the only thing Mum, Dad and I all agreed on.
