| Ok, folks, what are in your opinion the most funny songs? I have two cassettes and a bunch of mp3s with a "Laugh again" -Mix so my fave songs from that collection are:
Genesis - Whodunnit (I wish more ol' Proggies would have got the joke and stop complaining about it, I think I read somewhere it was meant as a Punk Parody) My Morning Jacket - Into the woods Faith No More - Schützenfest (when english spoken folks try german...hillarious) Kevin Ayers - Oh what a dream (I luv that "oink, scratch, bingbing"-beat) Pink Floyd - Bike (especially that thundering clusters after every chorus) Sepultura - the hidden track from Chaos AD, bandmembers doing fake laughs and one of them starts to laugh REAL, it's infectious!! Walt Disney - Symphony Hour (some old classical overture by Verdi or something played with kid's trumpets, marimbas, bottles and all kind of hillarious stuff) Elbow - One thing (Guy sounds even with Chipmunkvoice sexy!!) D 12 - My band, especially with videoclip
Ok, now it's your turn...

| A lot of the "Crash Test Dummies" lyrics are hilarious! i.e.: Running into you like this without a warning, Is like catching a sniff of Tequila in the morning. But I'll try, try to keep my food down..."or another one: How does a duck know, what direction south is? and how to tell his wife from all the other ducks?"Quite brilliant, I think! and always make me laugh... | |

| This Beck song always amuses me.
Nitemare Hippy Girl
She took me off my guard with disappointment I got sucked inside of her apartment Shes got dried-up flowers, flaky skin A beaded necklace and a bottle of gin
Shes a nightmare hippy girl With her skinny fingers fondlin my world Shes a whimsical, tragical beauty Self-conscious and a little bit moody
Its a new age let-down in my face Shes so spaced out and there aint no space Shes got marijuana on the bathroom tile Im caught in a vortex, shes changin my style
Shes a nightmare hippy girl With her skinny fingers fondlin my world Shes a whimsical, tragical beauty Uptight and a little bit snooty
... oh, oh, oh ...
Shes a magical, sparklin tease Shes a rainbow chokin the breeze Yo, shes bustin out onto the scene With nightmare bogus poetry Shes a melted avocado on the shelf Shes the science of herself Shes spazzing out on a cosmic level And shes meditating with the devil Shes cooking salad for breakfast Shes got tofu the size of texas Shes a witness to her own glory Shes a never-ending story Shes a frolicking depression Shes a self-inflicted obsession Shes got a thousand lonely husbands Shes playin footsie in another dimension Shes a goddess milking her time for all that its worth

Isn't that the stompie with the "Naaa naaa nananana naaa naaa" ? Might fit better in another section: Favorite Stompies...

| Ahh, TamedLamia, the wonders of Who Dunnit, eh? I think of those boring old Genesis fans as a bit like Roger Waters - no sense of humour and an inclination to take it all that little bit too seriously. Who Dunnit is indeed a punk parody and it's never failed to raise a smile. I think their funniest song, though, is Harold The Barrel.
Pink Floyd - Bike
What I've seen of Flight Of The Conchords is absolutely hilarious but unfortunately I don't know the titles. Must bone up on them.
Bill Bailey did a great performance of Insect Nation on a comedy show on BBC1 many many years ago.
Frank SInatra's parody of River Stay Away From My Door is darned funny, and risque too - "stay away, stay away, stay away you dirty ol' mother you" (gasp) |

| Yea, and strange enough, old Roger showed a lot humor with "Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict" And lot of Floyd-Fans took "Seamus" way too serious, I love also the "live" version "Mademoiselle Nobbs" where you can see how much fun they can have... And there was, like you've noticed with Harold the Barrel, early Genesis had humor too. | |

| I love Space. In number 69, there lives a transvestite He's a man by day but a woman at night In 999, they make a living by crime The house is always empty, cos they're all doing time In 666, there lives a Mr Miller He's the local vicar and a serial Killer Neighbourhood | |

| (Only just seen this thread ) Syd Barrett - Effervescing Elephant Wonderful! Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band - Jollity Farm(in fact most things by the Bonzos ) The Mighty Boosh Love Games(Ditto - anything by the Boosh!) The Flight of the Conchords are definitely something I mean to catch up on some day... I'm sure there are lots more - I'll probably be back | |

| Nice one So I've heard a lot about Eels on here recently, why haven't I heard them before? What's the best place (album) to start putting this right? | |

| They're all excellent but I'd recomend Beautiful Freak, the first album. It has the (relative) hit single 'Novocaine for the Soul', 'Susan's House', and if you are a fan of Shrek, the original 'My Beloved Monster and Me'.
Daisies of the Galaxy is superb. There's not a bad song on it and contains the wonderful 'I LIke Birds' as posted above. Either of those two are ideal places to start.
Electro-Shock Blues is also brilliant but a much darker album. It was written and recorded around the time of his mother's death and his sister's suicide.
Souljacker and Shootenanny are, in comparison, much more basic, stripped down works but no less excellent for that.
The last studio album, 'Blinking Lights and Other Revelations' is a superb double, probably his most autobiographical yet and has much to recomend it with all E's trademarks in place.
E (Mark Oliver Everett) is a superb lyricist (almost as good as Guy in my book) with a real knack for a superb hook and great musical arrangements.

| I'm enjoying the reference to all those early Floyd songs. That line makes me think Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast could segue into the old single "Toast" (points for anyone who can remind me who it was by - see Ladies of a Certain Age thread ) | |

" Toast! ...I'll have toast! A little bit of toast!" ... that Toast? It was by Streetband, featuring Paul Young on vocals, pre Q-Tips and awful solo career.
