| this thread is torture. Here is my attempted list, that will probably change in about half hour, so i thought i'll do my favourite 2 from each album in order or albums from earliest to latest
1. Red 2. Scattered Black & White 3. Fugitive Motel 4. Ribcage 5. Forget Myself 6. My Very Best 7. Loneliness of a tower crane driver 8. Some Riot (very underrated song imo) 9. Lippy Kids 10. The Birds
There are so many spine chillers that i couldn't include to this list, it's unreal

| The PhoenixFM website is being updated at the moment, and the voting page has temporarily vanished (along with many others). Don't worry, all your votes are safe, and I'll let you know when it's back for the votes to continue! - allyngibson wrote:

I was surprised too, for quite a while it was at number one. Not any more though... (Perhaps surprised is the wrong word, but I just wasn't expecting it). Dan

| Oops, I'm a bit late to the party. I veered away from barb! and a couple of the songs that have had most media recognition, and seem to have ended up with tracks mostly from the first two albums, but still difficult to narrow it down to a measley 10 faves... argh! 1. Asleep In The Back 2. Red 3. Great Expectations 4. Can't Stop 5. Forget Myself 6. Fugitive Motel 7. Bones Of You 8. Newborn 9. Switching Off 10. Ribcage I've asked a couple of the band members now whether they'll ever play Asleep In The Back live, and judging by their reactions I don't think it'll ever happen. *sniffle* | |

| OK:
1. I've Got Your Number 2. Mexican Standoff 3. Any Day Now 4. Station Approach 5. Great Expectations 6. The Birds 7. McGreggor 8. Little Beast 9. The Fix 10. The Stops
Isn't this really really difficult? I notice there are no singles on my list, which doesn't surprise me (knowing me) but is pretty harsh, especially on the COT tunes.
We can all sit back after posting 10 and think "I could easily make an incredible top 10 from the remaining tracks"... "and then another 10 after that..." ... "and then..."

| Just a quick teaser/update - at the moment, in the top 20 there are 2 songs each from COT and BARB, 5 each from AITB and LOTFW and 6 from TSSK. Will TSSK prove to be the most popular album? Will the number one song be from it, or one of the others...? We shall see, but in the meantime, keep those votes coming in! Cheers, Dan | |

| Here is how I've voted. I can only say that it represents how I was feeling this morning; if I repeated the exercise this afternoon I suspect at least four tracks would change, and the order would be totally different. By next week, who knows what my top 10 would look like!
1. Station Approach 2. Scattered Black & Whites 3. Newborn 4. Grounds For Divorce 5. Great Expectations 6. The Fix 7. Some Riot 8. Leaders Of The Free World 9. McGreggor 10. The Loneliness Of A Tower Crane Driver
Now, can I bear having a go at the Genesis poll, or worse still the Radiohead one? (Not if I want to get any work done today at this rate!)

| I have spent a good afternoon deliberating over this, whilst watchin British Touring Car racing. I've had pen and paper to hand, I have scribbled out, added to ,moved around, omitted, reinstated, pondered, racked my brains, searched my soul and generally given this a good coat of looking at and I have come to the following conclusion.............THIS IS TOO DAMNED HARD!!!!!
The end result is I have voted with the following ten tracks. If you asked me again in a month would it be the same?.......Probably not lol.
1. The Stops 2. The Lonliness of a tower crane driver 3. High ideals (I know that one will controversial) 4. Red 5. Puncture Repair 6. Fugitive Motel 7. Great Expectations 8.Weather to Fly 9 .Lippy Kids 10. Station Approach

| Just read my post back and realised that O.D.l.T is no where to be seen on my list. I do love this track, due mainly to the strings involved, but I think it lost out because it's perhaps too commercialised and alot of "elbow" fans believe this great group only started with T.S.S.K!!! Booooooooooo to you all | |

| Very difficult, roughly in order: 1. Newborn (the first song of theirs I heard, love at first listen) 2. Whspergrass 3. Can't Stop 4. The Birds 5. I've Got Your Number 6. George Lassooes the Moon 7. Ticker Tape 8. Ribcage 9. Fugitive Motel 10. Coming Second Very close, sort of joint 10th (!): MacGreggor, Presuming Ed (Rest Easy), Snooks, The Drunken Engineer, High ideals (not controversial IMO ), Some Riot, The Stops, Picky Bugger, The Bones of You, Mirrorball... and.. and... Ahem I didn't do that very well, did I? | |

| oops, just noticed B-sides aren't meant to be included? Sorry, I've got three in there (or two if you count the fact the Whispergrass was on some versions of COT (though i have it as a B-side)). Well they're my favourite songs, so! If it must be, substitute some album tracks at random from the list below. | |
