| Must confess, surprised at the number of votes for 'Not a Job' ! - got it on single CD, not sure why, really, as it's one that's washed right over me. | |

| I suppose I should apologise that there aren't all the b-sides and rarities to pick from, some of you obviously consider them to be some of the best work they've done. I didn't put the list together myself, but if I had done, I think it would have just been album tracks anyway, so at least there's a few b-sides to choose from. I consider myself a big Elbow fan, and sing their praises all the time, but I can't remember the last single I bought from any artist, so I'm simply not familiar with any of the b-sides. I see that I should be. I'll have to have a rummage on Amazon. It's great to see so many votes coming in, thanks so much for these, and I'll keep you all posted with little teasers... When I last checked, there were two songs tying for first place, and 'Audience...' was gaining ground. Dan | |

| To be honest, Dan, it doesn't bother me that there aren't more b-sides on the list of options, and I apologize if I've given off the feeling of being miffed, because I'm really and truly not. To elaborate I wrote on my blog yesterday, the people who know them are hard-core fans and serious collectors. For the casual listener, which is what the audience for your radio program will consist of, the Elbow "canon" that they would have easy access to or be even passingly familiar with would be the five albums. Had the b-sides collection Dead in the Boot had ever happened, some of these songs would be better known. Limiting to album tracks (and a few odds and ends) is, honestly, the best approach. | |

| It wasn't a dig at anyone Allyn, and certainly not you, as I had read your blog post and saw you'd said that. Several have mentioned here that they would have picked one or more of them if the option was available. But I do feel I'm missing out a bit. At the end of the day though, it's just a bit of fun. After a browse on Amazon (and Spotify), I think it might be a little tricky to locate some of these b-sides, in case they're required, so I may have to enlist some help if I can't get hold of them. Dan P.S. Anyone here know the band well enough to persuade them to tweet about the vote? | |

Apparently some of the band visit this forum from time to time, so there is a chance they may see it on here

| A few weeks back, my wife mentioned something about the song 'Asleep in the Back'. A bit confused, I looked on the CD, and confirmed to myself that there was no such song, it was just the name of the album. Obviously that's not the case, but my CD goes straight from 'Bitten...' to 'Newborn', so up until yesterday, I'd never heard 'Asleep...'. So what happened there? Have I got a rare AITB with no AITB? | Early pressings of the album didn't have "Asleep in the Back." Later pressings do as a mid-sequenced bonus track. | |

| Ahh, thank you. At least it shows I've liked them from the start. I remember them doing a live session on Tim Lovejoy's show on XFM in 2001 (I guess), playing Newborn and one other song that slips my mind - sounded great, and confirmed to me that they were a 'proper' band. Dan | |

Dan The single was released in 2002, way after the album release - the album was then repackaged during 2002 with the additional 'title' track.

Dan Don't worry, Dan. You've got the proper version! That makes me feel much better. Dan P.S. I've got a photo of some fox poo somewhere, would you like to see it?
