| Just got an email!! The album website is not up and running yet but it's there! Yes, it's true. Elbow will be releasing their fifth studio album 'build a rocket boys!' on 7th March 2011. The album was recorded at Blueprint Studios in Salford and was again produced and mixed by keyboard player Craig Potter. You can preorder your copy now at Play.com or HMV.co.uk. Stay tuned for a special surprise on Boxing Day. Merry Christmas www.buildarocketboys.comwww.elbow.co.uk | |

err... why does that make me apprehensive? :-/ Hmmm yes, me too... but the article posted on another thread talked about what they wanted to do not mass expectations... so will just wait and have a listen before deciding. Very exctiing news though - but what a wait! I like the title; I'm sooo glad it's that, not Lippy Kids. So it's a surprise on Boxing Day and the album out on Guy's Boxing Birthday, nice one. I agree with LWDthat I hope there aren't going to be "special versions" - let's just have one album and no messing/rip-offs - I shall certainly hold fire before preordering - but whatever I'll make sure I get it in good time - can't wait!

Is this the end of Elbow as we have known them? Surely not. They have far more integrity than that.........don't they????? Slightly worried now.

| I'm not going to be worried till I've heard it - the comments I've been hearing/reading (apart from this one) have certainly whetted my appetite. Variety is the spice of life but I hope the "Eno-esque minimalism" and other such interesting snippets prevail over the stadiumyness. | |

| I've edited the title/first post: "lower case and exclamation mark"
I love that they care how people capitalise it, and I'm a sucker for an "!" in a title.
Other new stuff from the 6Music interview. The artwork is by Oliver East. It's a figure jumping in the air, "streching his arms to the heavens in excitment"
John Mossley(?) sings on The Birds, a song about the a failed love affair from the PoV of an 85 year old man.

| I thought it might have been a saying going around the studio when making the album, ie. let's make a HUMUNGOUS album of brilliance ! (which I'm sure they have) | |

| As long as it has that intimacy - sorry, reading that comment about writing to fill stadiums yesterday, um, scared me... but of course Elbow specialise in doing epic with intimacy. (Thanks Dano for using the word epic ) In truth I'm as excited as anyone else. :-) Roll on March 7th - with a Boxing day surprise in between. Yay! | |
