| BBC Four showed three Manc-music themed programmes last night; The Stone Roses' Empress Ballroom gig from around 1989, a BBC round-up of pop from five decades called 'They Came from Manchester' and a repeat of one of the Factory documentaries, "Factory: Manchester from Joy Division to Happy Mondays" narrated by John Simm. Haven't watched the Roses back yet, but the Beeb retrospective was a bit sketchy, missing out more than a decade after M People and jumping straight to the Ting Tings. The look at Factory was much more in-depth and IMO worth watching. It was made back in early 2007 so included plenty of input from Tony Wilson himself. If you fancy catching it, the Factory & Manc Pop programmes are on BBC Four again Sunday night/Monday morning at 12.15am or on the iPlayer. TCFM is here. | |
