| sorry, are people in europe generally aware of arcade fire
before i got into elbow they were probably my favorite band, their two full length albums are both amazing and both have a distinctive feel to them
any other fans here? | |

| People of Europe ARE generally aware of the work of the band Arcade Fire!
Loved seeing them at sunset at Glasto 2007, fab set and we somehow ended up in the front row!
Thinking a couple of bits of The Hazards of Love (Decemberists) sound very AF! The ooooh's in the wanting comes in waves are great!

| Arcade fire were my door into good music, i hated music before i found them, then through ukk (arcade fire forum) found radiohead, doves, elbow and others. So yea, i love them (from britain). They got big here with the release of neon bible, and I think that increased sales of funeral too. I wouldn't be surprised if they're headlining some festivals on their next tour. | |

| Another fan here - loved both albums and would love to seem them live, but haven't had a chance yet. I just heard their song Wake Up being used in the trailer for the upcoming Spike Jonze movie Where The Wild Things Are, and I wonder if it'll be used in the film itself or just the trailer. | |

| I love Arcade Fire! I went to see them in 2007 at the MEN Manchester, they did a cover of The Smith's ' Still Ill' I love their albums, I hope they bring another one out soon. They have a track on "Dark Was The Night" which is an excellent compilation CD, sold in aid of an AIDS charity: Lenin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-x71CWd6GQAgree, they were brilliant at Glastonbury!! | |

| "Funeral" is one of my top 10 favourite albums of all time. We were also at the MEN the other year. Abiding memory is shuffling out of the arena via Manchester Victoria railway station, with the "Oh Oh. Oh Oh Oh Oh. Oh Oh" from "Wake Up" striking up spontaniously every couple of minutes. Brilliant night | |

| When I first got Funeral i couldn't stop playing it in fact I think I'll stick it on later!
That spontaneous singing brought back memories, as we were walking to the MEN all the cars seemed to be blasting out Arcade Fire tracks, magic night!

| I love the albums, love the band, love the music, I also remember Victoria station echoing to the strains of wake up, but it was my first a probably last visit to the sterile corperate world of the truly horrible MEN arena. | |

| So want them back in the UK touring after reading some of the posts on this thread, I was at the MEN arena gig as well, the only time I've seen them so far and to be in a crowd of 14,000 people singing along to Wake Up was just phenomenal, such a brilliant night for me Hoping for the new album asap, just can't wait to see what direction musically my favourite band (apart from elbow perhaps) has gone in as its not far off 3 years since neon bible. | |

| I'm surprised Arcade Fire don't get mentioned more on this forum. Everyone on the site shares a common interest in good quality music, so I thought they'd be more prominent.
Anyway, their new album "The Suburbs" is excellent, they've just announced a few UK dates and their debut album "Funeral" is still one of my all time favourites.
Leaving the MEN with crowds of people walking through town singing "Wake Up" is my second favourite post gig memory (after leaving Delamere Forest with everyone singing "Grace Under Pressure").
So let's hear it for Arcade Fire!

| New album is incredible. I love it a lot more now I'm familiar with the songs, Neon Bible took months to grow on me, this one took about a week.
Of course FUNERAL still stands up as one of the best albums EVER, but the Suburbs is a quality album & will no doubt stand the test of time.

Still not 100% in love with The Suburbs either but I am enjoying it more in an immediate way than I did Neon Bible. Wanted to catch them on this tour, as I think several of the songs on Suburbs will sound amazing on stage, but I don't think it's gonna happen, unfortunately.

| I really like Arcade Fire. The Suburbs is a very good record, but my fave is probably Neon Bible witch is their most evocative record. Love the lyrics.

| Just got home from the LG Arena gig
They were brilliant tonight.
I couldn't make Manchester as it's our works do, so we made the trip to Birmingham and it was well worth it. They must be up there with the best live bands in the world at the moment.
I won't put any spoilers in as it's Manchester on Saturday, but if you're going you are in for a great night
Outstanding!

Ta for the tip-off, Sparky: They played a blinding show last night. Loved the themed set too. It also was my first experience of a gig at Manchester Central/the old G-MEx. Slightly odd place to have an all-standing set-up (completely flat without any ramping towards the back), but good nonetheless.

Yeah, agree MrsW - the set was brilliant, I loved the fact that though it was well into their tour, they made it feel like it wa s the first and only date they were playing - the sheer enthusiasm and joy from the band was stunning. An incredible gig. When they played 'No Cars Go' I had one of those MOMENTS.

So that's why the floor was damp. It's been a long time since I went to anything at the G-Mex/Manchester Central: The last time was Happy Mondays 20-odd years ago when there was SEATING (what became of that?). A much better place to see a band than the MEN as it's got a nice, rough-and-ready, lived-in feel to it - sticky floors and everything. I thought the sound was excellent: I guess that's why it's a good idea to get level with the mixing desks. Not sure if getting any further forward than that would have been a good idea, as it was pretty crammed where we were stood. Cheeky people trying to push forward in front of others who had claimed their spot before the support act really pees me off: Yes you can go forward, pal, but I'm not letting you through so you can come to a grinding halt in the foot of space in front of us and block our already slightly restricted view. A minor quibble which never spoiled a truly excellent set. Not sure about Banhart, though he did do that turtle song off the advert.

Glad you all had a grand time!
