Bettyblue. I love Back for Good but I wouldn't call it a tearjerker. Does it have some special meaning for you? Hope you don't mind me asking. Lesley

Elbow? Some Riot...Other? The Decemberists...last track on The Hazards Of Love...#17 The Hazards of Love 4 (The Drowned). Everytime, it wrecks me. Yet I listen again...again and again .

Have you heard the Decemberists' recent song "Sleepless" (on a compilation called Dark Was the Night)? Another one that totally tugs at the heartstrings... wonderful.

Oh...I haven't heard it. I will check it out. We just got tix for their show though and I am sooooo excited. Elbow may never come to Seattle, but that doesn't mean we can't have a few good shows!

Thank you...how funny that The Decemberists have infiltrated the Elbow room. Both bands have some of the best songwriting I have ever heard...since...uh, Peter Murphy IMHO.

The last two songs that actually made me cry were Some Riot and Red for some reason.

I went to see The Imagined Village on Monday - brilliant they were too, but one of the highlights of the evening for me was Chris Wood's solo performance of this song, a tribute to Brazilian electrician Jean Charles de Menezes, who was wrongly shot by the police:
It's the second time I've seen him sing it and it moves me so much I thought I'd share it.

It's from Grönemeyer... The German singer. I really love this song. Get's me goosebumps everytime.
Thanks to the internet - here's the translation:
Hold me Take my dreams at face value Revel in fantasies Got caught inside of you Don't know what happens to me Warm myself with your voice Lay myself to rest in your arms Hold me, just a little Until I can sleep
I feel secure with you I bank my heart on you Want to cherish every moment Duration eternally Leaning on you is easy Totally submissive to you I find consolation in you
I'm beside myself out of joy Want to drown slowly with you Headlessly, carefree, weightlessly getting lost in you Cover me with tenderness Take me by storm, the night is short Peacefully, love-stricken, overwhelmed by you It's good that you exist
Come tell me something Talk to me I want to listen to you until I am repleted Always want to be with you Refuel me with life Let me stay in your arms
