I was looking at the official web site and the links on "stuff we love"

In the middle of the page there is a link to the National Autistic Society.

Does anyone know if there is a direct connection with the band and autism/aspergers before they have this link there ?
I have trawled the net trying to find any details but can't find anything specific.

(My 5 year old was diagnosed on the autistic spectrum last year, and i was amazed to see my fav band promoting awareness of the condition through the NAS)

hmm, possibly. maybe one of the band have relatives with it. Or they could just be supporting a good cause.

I haven't heard any links between the band and autism, but it could be something that someone can ask the band when they see them live? It would be interesting to hear why they have it linked, even if it is to support a good cause.

Thanks,
I guess they obviously know someone either directly or indirectly, as most people only become
aware of the condition through experience. I knew very little until our own situation arose and
then spent the last year reading everything about autism.

Hope this isn't too heavy for a fans forum!!

They support land mines removal too !

ok no more politics. Sleep

As you probabaly know Elbow support Autism.
The NAS are running an updated campaign to help raise awareness of Autism.

The attached links to a few short films, which depict what life can be like for those who have the condition.

http://www.think-differently.org.uk/trainfilmme.aspx

If you scroll down it links to an Anti-Bullying Film and then also a small four part film, which is actually quite amusing in places, but illustrates a serious issue. Please help raise your awareness of Autism. thank you (preaching over !) Wink

This is great, to see where the boys' concerned priorities lie.

My younger brother has Aspergus, has done since he was born. I don't really think twice about it, though. He's just a lovely lad with lots of personality and passion.

I work with children with Special Educational Needs, which includes children on the Autistic Spectrum, it continues to be a disorder i find fascinating and still can not get my head around! I was very pleased to see that elbow were supporting the charity, they do great work.
