Aaaah! It's Friday the 13th!!

Just realized it's Friday the 13th. Not superstitious or anything, but...I figured if anything crappy happens to any of us today, we can post it here and blame it on bad luck. So far nothing to report...anyone else?

Wow, cool. I've actually had a very good day considering. Looks like the " you make your own luck" theory is holding true.

My end of year exhibition at college is tonight, as if I wasn't nervous enough already!

I didn't even realize today was the 13th.

My day has been great so far. *knocks wood*

Gorgeous weather, got all my annoying errands done, listened to some great tunes in the car, bought fresh peaches and strawberries at my local farm stand, and will now go putter around in the garden and yard till the kids get out of school. Then I'm cooking stew. Mmmm...I love stew.

I went to the dentist this morning. I need a filling doing. Whooppeee!!

load of bollox if you ask me... how can the fact we somehow happened to end up numbering/naming this particular rotation of the earth 13 and friday have anything to do with the events that unfold upon it

No proof that it's an unlucky day of course...it's all in the mind...and there is now scientific evidence to clarify this:

Unlucky for some? Dutch statisticians have established that Friday 13th, a date regarded in many countries as inauspicious, is actually safer than an average Friday.

A study published on Thursday by the Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics (CVS) showed that fewer accidents and reports of fire and theft occur when the 13th of the month falls on a Friday than on other Fridays.

"I find it hard to believe that it is because people are preventatively more careful or just stay home, but statistically speaking, driving is a little bit safer on Friday 13th," CVS statistician Alex Hoen told the Verzekerd insurance magazine.

In the last two years, Dutch insurers received reports of an average 7,800 traffic accidents each Friday, the CVS study said. But the average figure when the 13th fell on a Friday was just 7,500.

There were also fewer incidents of fire and theft, although the average value of losses on Fridays 13th was slightly higher.

Ahhh numerology and superstition,
I think its funny that certain numbers in different countries/cultures can be lucky or unlucky.

Have you seen The Number 23, that was eerily funny - but once you start becoming obsessed by numbers you see them everywhere.

There are also loads of coincidences with numbers
we have this thing about the number 7;- I was born on a Sunday (7th day), so was my wife, so was my first born, and so was my second !
Wife was born on Christmas Sunday which only actually happens once every seven years !
we live at No 7. My Daughters name has Seven letters (she was also born on the 7th !), so does my sons name, and so do both their middle names.
I could go on....

I'm happy to agree with that.

for the second year running, i had a flight on friday the 13th. im pleased to say nothing untoward happened. although we did hit a rabbit on the way back from the airport.
