| A while ago, it was brought up that the band released a track that they didn't care for. I believe the general consensus as fans was that it was most likely a song from Cast of Thousands. Guy brought it up again and pinpointed it a little further: Elbow have such a big fanbase. Do you ever feel pressure to keep people happy, or do you just get on with it? People would be devastated if you brought out a terrible album… GG: We wouldn't release it! We've written terrible songs, but no-one's ever heard them. Oh, apart from one – we did let a B-side go which we all hate. It's only happened once, and none of us could stand it. interview in full: http://thequietus.com/articles/14699-elbow-guy-garvey-interviewIf I remember correctly, it was first mentioned around the time of Leaders being released, so only AITB/CoT b-sides can be the possible choices. Thoughts? From CoT: Brave New Shave Loss From AITB/EPs around that time: Puckfair Stumble About Time Suffer Vum Garda The Crow Wurzel Kisses One Thing That Was Bothering Me | |

| Not sure if it was here or back on Powerderblue, but I thought VG got the most votes for most likely.
Cannot possible be "Loss" - I was gutted when that didn't make DITB.

| Yeah, I couldn't remember where it was discussed due to the crossover and failed to find it on here. I only had a vague recollection of when it happened and what was guessed.
Vum Garda does seem like the leading candidate. I briefly thought Kisses as another one because it doesn't add much, but then realized that would make it inoffensive to most rather than a track to dislike.

| its "One Thing That Was Bothering Me", he spoke about it when he was on the Chris Evans radio show earlier this year, he didnt name check the song but hates the lyric "we all love columbo"...
his excuse was it was back in the day where they need churn out a load of b-sides - is that why in the modern digital release age they've no b-sides anymore?

D'you know what, that was the first one that I thought of... just because it sounds like the most throwaway and B-sidey of all Elbow's B-sides. The first time I heard it I misheard part of the lyrics as "Gymnasiums and Adrians, voodoo spoons confusion" and that's stuck with me forever... what does Guy find mysterious about people called Adrian?

This is what I get for not really paying attention. Thank you for the answer. I actually don't mind that track, find it a bit ridiculous lyrically but still listenable. It actually made sense that the culprit was from the AITB sessions due to the large volume of tracks. They were following the b-side format up until this release, whose decision that was, I doubt we'll figure it out. There wasn't much for barb, so maybe they've strayed from the idea?
