| Yeah, I know they're secretive. A few people on another forum were hoping it'd be released at midnight on new years. I'm gonna take a poke and say July/August. Other bands will probably have to adjust their release schedule according to them and not vice versa methinks. | |

I've been listening to it all weekend and i like it a lot too. I'm happy that Lotus Flower and Give Up The Ghost made it on the album. My only complaint is that eight songs isn't enough. Yes, I am greedy.

| That's understandable. I'm like that, too. Given those eight songs don't even total 40 minutes, I feel like there should be at least two more songs to make the album a bit more substantial. | |

| Hopefully there will be a follow-up later in the year, maybe its a 2 part album.
It would explain why its so short

| Or some kind of Bonus CD thing like the Engineers did with "In Praise of more" which is either very short... | |

| I downloaded this as soon as I could get it, but still haven't had time to listen to the whole thing properly!. Sad, I know...but I can tell I'm gonna like it. Not too sure where it'll rank in the Radiohead collection, but I need to take some time with it and give it a few decent listens first before I figure that one out. | |

| I haven't been much impressed with the latest Radiohead effort but then, I was always more of a Pablo Honey/OK Computer fan... Never liked the electronica transition and while since Kid A there has been a sprinkling of decent rock output and some beautiful ballads too, I just can't appreciate the trippy stuff. Thom has a great voice but like others have said, much of Radiohead is so utterly heartless and clinical. I appreciate the move to focus on rhythm but Thom's profession that he was bored with melody... I don't get music utterly bereft of melody and a rhythm isn't a rhythm if it's just an aural vomit of distorted noise.
I love music that takes you by surprise; I love music that you need to work at, that grows on you with every listen. Someone said they loved the way Elbow's chord progressions were not as "safe" as Coldplay and Snow Patrol and I totally agree. Radio-friendly can be quite boring, sounds the same every time you listen to it, and is just not as satisfying as music that takes you on a journey. Elbow's melodies are only sometimes bombastic and completely immediate; they're a band of subtlety but there is always a melody there... a beautiful, complex, often emotional tune.
Radiohead are probably not concerned with this so fair enough but they can write melodic, well-constructed, songs too. Matter of personal taste but it just fazes me as to why they think the distorted, tuneless electronica is the better way forward. Lucky remains my favourite Radiohead track.
I quite like really dark, dingy dystopic music too, if that is the effect being attempted; I just think the likes of Massive Attack are better at it.

Hope you've had a listen by now? It took my a long time to come round to KidA & Amensiac - however i now think i prefer this to the Bends... The King of Limbs kicks everthing else into a cocked hat in my humble opinion... Codex is possibly the best thing they've ever done (easily the best of the year!) whilst little by little is fantastic... best album of the decade so far...
