| any news of a us tour? what size venues do you reckon they'll play? they played clubs last time round, but considering the success of seldom seen kid, they may have outgrown the clubs/ballrooms/music halls. hope not. | |

| No news yet, I bloody hope so though.
I don't think their profile has grown that much in the US has it? I expect (and indeed hope for) similar size venues.
Like the Imperial Theatre, Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
Well, I can dream can't I?

I think US fans can expect the same types/sizes of venues as last time; they're definitely not an arena band here, and I can't see them in amphitheaters, which would be the next level down, capacity-wise, from arenas. Maybe there'll be some bigger places in some of the major markets (NY, for example), but overall I think they're gonna be in those same types of places this time. Funnily enough though, I may not get to see them on the US leg of the tour, since the hubby has already laid out a fair sum in getting me over to see the Manchester show! It'd be very Veruca Salt of me to hope for travel expenses to see them in another state during the US tour, since it's certain they won't be coming here to Florida. But honestly, I'm thrilled to be seeing them at all, anywhere, especially in their hometown, so it's all good!

| The band are confirmed for Coachella on April 15th. I presume they wouldn't go all that way for one show?! | |

| Bloomin' eck - they're really low down the list. I had to magnify the band list to find them. | |

| I just had a look at Coachella flights. Can get LHR - LAX returns for just under £400. I'm so tempted. | |

No, I hate festivals... An actual Elbow gig in a small(ish) venue maybe, but no, I wouldn't bother for a festival...

| For some reason, I wasn't expecting them to come to the U.S. so quickly. I suppose they're going to have an April release date for the album then? And I'm crossing my fingers for some proper east coast shows this time, they bypassed Massachusetts completely before (and no, supporting Coldplay does not count).
Personally, I wouldn't suggest the airfare for Coachella if you're only going for them, simply because there will be more intimate gigs in the States and I think you'd get more out of your money that way... And travelling from LHR to LAX sounds like a pain.

| I was kind of surprised to see that Elbow would be at Coachella this year. As ukkonen already commented above, I wasn't expecting them here in April, considering we've yet to get the US release date for the album. It's a great lineup in general for Coachella this year, and those who go will be getting some great shows, no doubt! | |

If I could afford it and didn't have responsibilities, I would be there like a shot. The line up is fab. Go on - life's too short!

Just to be different, I'd hope that they stay in that size venue for their next US tour.

| I wonder if they'll do what they did last time and tour with another band (like Coldplay)... shorter sets (which sucked for fans) - but probably bigger exposure for them... | |

Interesting - wonder how Lippy Kids went down in that environment - hard to make such a long song intimate in a huge open air setting. I would have thought "with love" would be a good festival song with the crowd interaction, but it seems to be a bit of a marmite song. Personally, I loved it live, but some seem not to. Pete's interview is good!

| I was able to watch the "live" webcast on youtube, but I will have to note that I was watching it on a mobile phone, which means that I probably ended up with a completely different quality of recording/experience. The only issue I had was with the inability to hear Guy clearly at the start of the performance. Luckily, it seemed like they fixed that towards the end because I don't recall making any commentary about it around that point. Lippy Kids actually went quite well with the crowd. For the most part, they were quiet until the end when Guy stops whistling and Craig is still playing the piano. There was a lot of whistling (funnily enough, there was one individual who mimicked Guy's whistling perfectly), clapping, and cheering at that point but other than that, they were a great crowd. I can't say if they pulled off the intimate setting, simply because I wasn't there in person. It's easy to create an intimate setting when I can see the close-ups of almost all of the band members - Craig was hidden in the back and was seldom seen in the webcast. All in all, the crowd was quiet when they needed to be and completely energized & responsive to Guy's orders the rest of the time. I'd have to say that they filled up the Mojave tent and had more crowd members outside of it. You can read the commentary on the Coachella board here. | |

| Hello all,
I finally got to see Elbow for the first time at Coachella. I was two people off the front barrier and had an amazing time. Their whole set was beautiful and I wished it could have lasted for hours. The crowd seemed to be very enthusiastic from what I saw. The highlight of the night for me was singing the line from Station Approach "I need to see your face that's all" to Guy and him pointing back at me, Awesome!

There's an interesting line in that one: "Elbow is not without its successes in the States. Their songs have appeared in trailers for major Hollywood films, and Garvey said he and the band would be interesting in doing more film work." Contributing a song to a blockbuster/tentpole film soundtrack would be a fantastic way of expanding Elbow's reach in the States. Considering how influential Elbow was on Stephenie Meyer, perhaps Elbow could contribute a song to Breaking Dawn (part 1 or 2). (No, it wouldn't get me to watch the film, but I'd buy the soundtrack album.)
