After ‘Scratch My Back’, it looks like covers fever has taken hold even further:
Has anyone else heard the intriguing news that the band have recorded a kids’ covers album? I caught most of the mention on Channel M, which said it’s going to be called ‘Seldom Seen Kids’ and have versions of well-loved children’s TV themes. The project's being put together by a Norwegian TV guy Olaf Lorpi, who's apparently their answer to Simon Cowell.
There was more or less a full listing mentioned, but the ones I remember are: Chorlton and the Wheelies Sesame Street Scooby Doo Play Away Dangermouse The Flashing Blade
It sounded like this is for charity, but didn't catch which one, sorry. I wonder if this is the result of the kids’ soundtrack project that’s been mentioned last year?

Oh! When I think of REM changing their "Shiny Happy People" for Sesame Street into "Shiny furry monsters" I could imagine it could be a cute idea
According to Scoobydoo I just remember Guy saying he wants to play a gangster in that film (that news even made it to the german yellow press who normally never heard about Garve... )
Or does it mean, they play Sesame Street classics like Oscar the Grouch's song "I love trash" or Ernie's Rubberduckie Song?
Or....is it just Aprilfools????????????????

...but if that wasn't a april fool's joke I had some more ideas... Mumford and Sons could do a song about Magic and do a session with The Amazing Mumford from Sesame Street...

MrsW is away today, so I'll say well done to all of you who weren't fooled!
But, with 59 views, it is to be hoped that someone out there has been credulous enough to believe the story, but is too ashamed to admit it.
Olaf Lorpi sends his best wishes.

I believed it on first glance, it was only Hotblack's reply that alerted me!
There's a lot of Norwegian journalists called Olaf about today

Good on you, Lee, for owning up to taking the bait!
It's reassuring to know that our efforts weren't entirely in vain.
TL, I think I'd like to hear Elbow cover the Rubber Ducky song as well. I'm sure Guy could exploit the essential poignancy inherent in the lyrics.

Hee hee, I am that, Ticky. Had to be done.
For Allyn, Lee and anyone else who bought into this, I'll tell you a secret: That wind-up is probably rooted in wishful thinking. Deep down, I too yearn for the band to do a version of this:
After all, Cosgrove-Hall are Manchester based... Failing that, at least we've some ideas for audience encore songs on the next tour.

Love it!! Sorry I didn't see this on the day itself - well done mrswoman, and I agree that this would be a most righteous idea for a new project for the Elboys. Maybe we need to start a petition or a Facebook page or summat...it worked for Rage Against the Machine's Christmas #1!
