I mean. RIP and all, but far more important people have died with much less fuss. People die every day ffs!
Lets get a debate going here

| I kind of agree and disagree.
Personally his passing has left me emotionally untouched - unlike the passing of, say, John Martyn, or years ago, Kirsty MacColl, or Ian Dury, or Syd Barrett etc etc. As artists they meant much much more to me
but...
in a cultural context this is a huge event. Thriller is the best selling album of all time, he was the first black artist on MTV, and like it all not, his music was part of millions, perhaps billions of peoples lives. I can feel that sense of someone significant having just died. So I can see why it is such big news.

| Totally non plussed by the news. You can't deny he's made some great records but i don't own any. Like anyone dying, you, if in his case you don't already, feel for his kids........ | |

| Extremely sad for his kids - no child should have to lose a parent so young. However, personally, I strongly dislike the man and his music. His personal life left me sick to the stomach - it's amazing what money can buy you. | |

| Lots of talk about it being one of those things that you'll always remember where you were when you heard the news.
I was sat on the toilet. Great. That's MY Kennedy shooting now.

| I watched it happen last night, and I felt nothing when they announced he was dead. I mean, sure, he was a music legend, but people die all the time, what makes him so special? I feel sorry for all of the ticket holders, especially the guy whos tickets had reached £10 million on Ebay. | |

| Same with me. I am not really a fan of his work. I only like the very early stuff and don't own any CD. It is sad for the kids and with 50 years he was too young. What is really strange: it came to my mind that you have to appreciate the bands more. The ones that you really like. It's the same in real life with your friends and familiy, I know. But I am a huge U2 fan and if one of them would die I would react the same way, millions of Jacko fans do at the moment. So I can understand them. And so I listen to U2 now...
My moment: A fried wrote me a short message while driving to work.

Lets get a debate going here No. You're not the only one. I understand the legacy he has left behind but his music and life never meant anything to me. Sad for his kids, and that he was only 50, but on the whole....Meh!!!! At least he wasn't 42 and sat on the bog I find the passing of Sky Saxon of 60s garage band The Seeds of more interest. Ditto the passing of Charlie's Angel Farah Fawcett-Major

| MJ's death. Will they blame it on the sunshine, blame it on the good times....or blame it on the boogie? | |

| I like a lot of MJ's music, and his death was a huge shock to me. I was with my mate when I was told, it didn't really sink in until today. I feel so much for his 3 kids and the Jacksons. I must admit that towards the end he did become a very unusual character, but I think a lot of that is to do with his troubled childhood. Personally I think he will be remembered for his personal life rather than his music which is a shame, but hey what can you do? | |

| It was said that, in his will, MJ had asked that after his cremation, his ashes should be scattered in a sandpit so that the children can still play with him. 30 children have volunteered to identify his body due to already having seen him stiff. Madonna's very sad about Michael's passing, but has already enquired how much the kids are going for. I could go on It didn't affect me at all... My first thought upon hearing the news was "I hope the tickets are refunded." | |

That is so incredibly heartbreaking. How is she doing? Not great really, he lives in Dublin and hes not coping at all but he wont let her go over so she feels very helpless, so its sadness on top of sadness

| I feel a bit sorry for MJ, he jsut seemed a victim his whole life. Never a huge fan, but still sad.
Now, if it had been Lily Allen that'd be another story. Talk about a cmplete talentless waste of space....at least MJ had some talent.
