| Massive Attack team up with Elbow's Guy Garvey for War Child EP
Band set to release limited-edition record to mark 15th birthday of 'Help' album
Massive Attack are releasing a limited-editon EP in aid of War Child.
The 'Atlas Air' EP will mark the 15-year anniversary of the organisation's 'Help' album, which saw a group of artists record a charity album in a limited time.
The release will feature the title track and a remix of it by the DFA's Tim Goldsworthy, plus new song 'Redlight', which features Elbow's Guy Garvey, and a remix of that track.
The release will be available digitally and on 12-inch vinyl which is limited to 1,000 numbered copies. A short film for 'Atlas Air' will also feature.
"The initial pitch to support War Child and 'Help' wasn’t difficult: children are the innocent victims of war. We were quick to get involved," said the band's Robert Del Naja of their involvement.
"What’s so great about War Child is they continue to make great albums and events. It wasn’t a one-off, it’s an ongoing project and that can have an effect long-term."

| Here's what I've gathered from various new sources: - The remix of ‘Redlight’ will be by Warp artist Clark - No exact release date yet, but it will be sometime in November - not all of the details related to this EP have been released, but I'm sure that it'll be announced in a few days. - Massive Attack will be doing a special concert in London in late Nov. in support of War Child & this EP, with appearances by special guests (I expect Guy will be one of them, along with some other individuals who appeared on Heligoland?) There are videos of live performances of "Red Light" available on youtube. I can't say if it will sound the same as Guy's version, but it will at least give an idea as to what to expect. http://www.thevinylfactory.com/ is behind the pressing of this EP. I don't know if this will be available to purchase through War Child's store, Massive's store, or through VF. | |
