| Don't worry...it's clearing from the north. I can see blue sky above the lake district hills and it appears to be moving southwards, suggesting a freeze later today. Tread carefully on those icy pavements, folks. Like I didn't the other week.
And what's all this nonsense about there being no rock salt to grit the roads with? It's only been bad these last two weeks. Surely to goodness, you need to have enough grit available to last more than that? Even if your grit mountain isn't required immediately, it's going to get used up eventually, is it?
I bet they don't have this trouble in Canada.

| It's snowing at last!!! Mind you there's only about 1 inch and it seems to be melting rather rapidly. Don't care though - kids were sent home from school and they're all out playing in the sludge as we speak. | |

| Still very wintry up here, schools all shut today and tomorrow. Horrendous drive first day back to work today too. Global Warming ? - What about the opposite theory - the world slowing down the gulf stream and arctic conditions prevailing in the north. Can you imagine having to put up with this every year for a couple of months. Brrrr ! I'm expecting a heatwave next summer to make up for it | |

Erm, I though the theory was that this cold weather is as a result of Global Warming? The cold water from the melting poles causing the Gulf Stream to cool down etc etc... Meh, whaddo I know? I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Dublin Airport won't be closed on Saturday...

| We have had the best day EVER today. A couple of hours with tribes of children, sledging and messing around (Have you ever hurtled down a hill at 60 mph in an inflatable dinghy - I highly recommend it), followed by a lovely lunch at our local, accompanied by what looked like the whole village. We're back home now, the fire's lit and we're all cwtched up for the night - just magic. | |

| I've just been skiing on the hills in my village! I dug out my old skis (perished rubber and plastic on the boots - yuck) and took to the slopes. I am now aching in places that I'd forgotten about. My son and I have roughly the same size feet so we took it in turns. I think I've got a bit of a tan from the sun on the snow. What fun! | |

| 3 times i've cleared my drive since Sunday, and it's covered again (I live in Scotland). So today I got the bus to work. Took my mp3 player and listened to Elbow all the way. 20 min walk to the bus stop and a half hour bus ride. Can't wait for the journey home, as long as I don't fall 'asleep in the back' | |

| We had some snow last week, VERY tiny amount, but pretty. Rained last night so it's all gone, and it's 9 deg C today... Which would all be fine if I wasn't in CANADA where I moved because THERE'S LOTS OF SNOW! This wasn't in the brochure... Still, I fully expect to be covered in the stuff come January | |

| Well, don't worry, it's only the beginning of December, the winter service didn't expect the winter that "early", usually the first freezing rain came around 20th Dec., Christmas was no snow and the "real" winter came around New Year's eve. But I have a friend in Vancouver, who sent me a winterly photo last (?) year, so there's still hope for snowboarding | |

| Temparature in Berlin quite mild now, Snow's still there and I must admid, that it looks nice. I used to love winter weather like this...I even not afraid of driving my car over snowy streets. I am not scared of slowness. That time must be. I am just frightened of those frozen icebanks that turn into cages when you want to get out of your parking lot... | |

| Weather reports said that we would have 5 inches of snow around here by Friday. We didn't even get an inch. However, due to the extremely icy conditions caused by copious amounts of sleet, my university announced there would be no school today. Yay. Snow is a relatively rare occurrence here, so I might go play in it for at least a little bit. | |

| Mr W's boss is currently stranded somewhere near Chicago on business in the worst snow there for 30 years. Apparently, they got an 18 inch fall in 24 hours. The interstate's closed and all the public transport was grounded, but they're supposed to be sorting themselves out now.
Makes our national panic over a lot less look very daft and disorganised. Having a little bit of all kinds of weather seems to have left us unable to cope with anything slightly more extreme.
