| Dead In The Boot. The B-sides/rarities album that's been mentioned a few times over the years. What should go on it? Okay, yes, ideally a three or four disc box set would be ideal. But what if it were a single, 80 minute CD, much like Oasis' The Masterplan? What do you choose? What do you leave off? Do you pick covers over original band compositions? And how do you sequence it? I put my thinking cap on. And this is Allyn's Dead in the Boot: - Hotel Istanbul
- Teardrop
- The Long War Shuffle
- About Time
- Lucky With Disease
- Strangeways to Holcombe Hill
- The Good Day
- A Regret
- Wurzel
- My Finger
- Gentle As
- The Drunken Engineer
- Lullaby
- Working Class Hero
- Theme From Munroe Kelly (2004)
- Brave New Shave
- Loss
- Our Little Boat
- Love Blown Down
- Live On My Mind
That's my take on a single-disc B-sides/rarities album. The heavier tracks open the "album," the instrumentals mark tonal shifts, and the closing tracks get at one of the common themes in Elbow's work -- the power of love and the consequences of its loss, which is why I close with the cover of "Live On My Mind." Besides being beautiful, it's also a gentle note on which to end the "album." Any other takers?

| Disc 1 1998-2003Disc 2 2003-2005 Cannot possibly leave any of them off I like the elbow Bs chronological... the progression from the proggy roots, to the dark experimentalism of the Cast of Thousands Bs, to the variety in the last two, LOTFW b sides and TSSK b sides The links to the above appear to be the tracklisting of what would have been the double album of 2007 before parting company with V2. So before the TSSK Bs emergence...these could make up disc 3 together with some of their covers or remixes or collabs. 19 tracks on disc 1 opening with all the Noisebox tracks, through to 'Loss' as last track. 20 tracks on disc 2 starting with 'Whisper Grass' and ending with 'Gentle As' Hey allyn, how could you leave off Whisper Grass, The Crow, Waving from Windows, George lasooes the Moon?

Wasn't it on the "Grounds for Divorce" single? It's seven minutes long and really intense.

| I have a track called Hotel Istanbul on my B-Side Collecton (Strangeways, Here We Come) but it's just Grounds For Divorce played on the radio. It's not on youtube, is it? | |

| Hotel Istanbul is one of my favourite b-sides ever. Its brilliant !
You can't get it on official download, i bought the CD off Amazon just to get the track. it was a limited edition, but i'm not sure how many were released.
(maybe someone could upload it to their page on Mrs Womans site - elbowfans ning so you can hear it- I was goin to but when i ripped mine to this pc it went on as a WMA file and it needs to be MP3 to upload)

| Ahhhhhg, I'm never gonna hear it...I could also try the Multimedia Section at Coldplaying. If it can't be found there, it doesn't exist | |
