I can see their point of view, there is a way you can see elbow being marketed as the New Snow Patrol, but as we know Elbow have the soul to back it up, unlike SP who sacked founding members and rip off other people's sussesful work *cough*Crack the Shutters Is A Cheap Rip Off Of One Day*cough*
But that is my personal gripe!

Damn Grant, that was long. There are always going to be a few who say they hate [band name] because they [insert expletive]. It's just trolling at the end of the day. I suppose everyone has their own views, I for one hate singers like Soulja Boy and Dizzee Rascal, purely because I think there is little to no talent there. Of course, there will be fans who will argue all day with me about that. It's life.

Dearie me, reminds me of a lass at work. Two of us there talk music at the indie end of the spectrum quite a lot, while one other lass into the likes of Girls Aloud simply does not get it at all. Back then we'd both just seen Coldplay on the X & Y tour, so on saying how good it was the next day Girls Aloud fan flew into a frenzy of disgust: '...so depressing, slit your wrist music..." blah blah. Lo and behold, three years when Girlie Loud took her other half to see Coldplay on the Viva La Vida tour.

I enjoy the odd swear and think it's a bit much to edit other people posts to remove swears. If you don't like it, talk to them directly!

Naw, seriously i think swearing is part of our language and can be very descriptive but i do appreciate it can offend some people. Reminds me of a day at work when in one particular rant someone used the F word about half a dozen times as an expletive, an adjective, a person and a descriptor in the same sentence. classic

Omg that's so lame. I used to be into all that screamy metal rubbish and soon saw the light. Screaming does not mean a person is talented. It makes the individual sound like a angry three year old who whining about not getting an ice cream. Also you can't understand the lyrics, which in my opinion is most important. And they make up for the shouting with loud and obscenely fast music, which shows skill but no emotion apart from anger. And to the guy who said about the drumming...Jupp has more skill in his a*se than most drummers! All of Elbow are talented and intelligent people with wicked sense of humour and unlike metallers they have personality and soul. And to the person who says Elbow's lyrics are depressing are clearly deaf. Come on, the lyrics are some of the most beautiful...Mirrorball, Fugitive Motel, Great Expectation, ODLT, among so many others! Oh and the nerve of that guy who said a woman in the band would make them even worse has seriously annoyed me.

Last time I looked, members could only edit the last post they did, might have changed...not sure on that one. Also, Grant wasn't around at the time to talk to directly. I don't want to be PMed by somebody complaining about the explicit language, therefore, I use a "safe than sorry" policy on swearing. I'm sure you can work out what it says, being a responsible adult, and I don't get any flak from the more conservative members.

I wouldn't expect the person to edit their post because i took offense to it, rather that they would know their language or what they said had offended me and could they think next time. Personally i'd be livid if you edited the swearing out of any of my posts!

I'm not bothered as far as i'm concerned, if you're offended by 'bad language', you may be in the wrong forum. As many of us tend to use it

I, for one, swear all the time...especially on internet forums.

Whatever, I edited it, none of us are any worse off because of it, I have stopped any future complaints by doing it, the post is still fully legible and the rule of posts being "inoffensive" is upheld. Being a mod yourself, i'm sure you can understand that.

Saying stop dragging it off topic is a kind of bailout way to end a discussion, i for one haven't heard of any complaints about language on the forum so saying it stops future complaints is a tad pointless if there are none. I just think it's taking the role of mod too far to **** people's posts.
