(Mind you there was some surprise at the meetup on Weds as one or two people thought I was a lad...) I always thought My Bury Vest was a girl until he mentioned having a shave before the concert on Wednesday.

| So did I, until today's conversation (must've missed the shave reference...) Just to confuse the issue I'm often known as Al as well We'll have to take more notice of those blue and pink gizmos below the avatars (though personally I'm not a fan of pink at all ) | |

- Yep, MT's right, not far away at all, Northern Quarter's good for a booze, Trof, Odd, Bay Horse, Cord or for a more traditional pint it's gotta be the Hare and Hounds, which is a stones throw from the MEN. The Lord Nelson on Newton St is ok. Think the nearest pub is Ducie Bridge or Shambles Square where Sinclair's is housed, lovely cheap ale, lager less than £1.70, bitter less than £1.50.
Gettin' thirsty now.......... Is the ale in Sinclair's any good? Can I expect anything resembling the veritable nectar of the Briton's Protection, or will I need to retreat to the safe default zone of bottled lager?

| It's probably fair to say that the price is the redeeming feature, but it's ok. It's Sam Smith's I think. | |

| I've just done a bit of Googling and I'm confused now. Some reviewers reckon it's a Samuel Smiths house, in which case, meh; others say it brews it's own ale, in which case I am intrigued. Looking forward to finding out | |

| It's deffo Sam Smiths. I used to knock back Ayingerbrau all the time in there, but they don't make it anymore, just some other weissbiere that tastes like arse. | |

| It's certainly Sam Smiths everyone, Mr Woman, you'll love it, plenty of strong bottled ales and the bitter, in my opinion is great, Sams best or the Sovereign is my tipple. If you fancy buying some liquid company whilst spending months residing in bus shelters, get stuck into the ciderreserve it's loopy juice.....the lager was Ayingerbrau but now its called Alpine, still the same and still beltin' !! And yes, I'm male, well last time I looked I was !! | |

| Thanks for that MBV. IMHO, there's nothing worse than bad ale. I've had some poor quality Sam Smith once or twice in the past, hence my slight misgivings. Having said that, the standard of the beer is often as much to do with the cellar craft of the landlord rather than the beer itself. It's nice to be getting advance information on the quality of bitter in a particular pub. It sounds like they know what they're doing. I'm not a beer snob (yeah, right ); I'm perfectly happy retreating into the cold embrace and dull homogeneity of bottled lager or cider when need arises. This is all too often the case as a GOOD pint is all too rare. | |

| Nice one Dave, sounds like you like a nice real ale, to be honest I don'treally, more a good bitter or sometimes, Mild, then you MUST seek out the Marble Arch on Rochdale Rd, 10 minute walk to MEN at the most. It's well known and the clientele for that area of Manchester especially, are great. You could always stop off at The Angel en route, VERY well known for it's food AND beer's, it used to be called the Beer House.
Have always found the beer in Sinclairs great and apparently the grub is divine aswell. God, I could sample a pint now and that's worrying for 9.15am on a Monday !! Must be the depressing view of Ancoats despite the blue skies........

| Oh no! Sorry about your dead computer. I think we've just said in the previous posts that Howling Bells are to open for Elbow, the quality of the beer at Sinclair's (where we're all meetin, and what kind of sombreos to get, and how stupid we will feel if they don't play Mexican Standoff. Oh, and a couple of people are still looking for ticktes, so if you hear anything.....
I think that's about it....

| Booked the final necessary things today and I'm so excited!!! The concert itself will off course be great, but I'm also going to see Rob Brydon in the Opera House on Thursday. And almost 4 whole days of sightseeing and being a tourist in Manchester and Liverpool! | |

| Blech, my paypal transaction to the eBay seller failed for whatever reason. So I've had to re-add my details and now have to wait 2-5 days to confirm them with paypal, then wait another 7-9 days to send the transaction again, when I don't know if it'll actually work second time around... I just hope the seller keeps being patient and doesn't just re-list them, otherwise I'll have to go through all the hassle of finding another 2 tickets. | |
