Truelove's Gutter is very dark, the instrumentation quite haunting especially against Mr Hawley's vocals. it's not a record you can listen to parts of, it's about the whole story and experience from start to finish, truly beautiful.

Richard will perform an acoustic session live from Hadrian's Wall on the Radcliffe & Maconie show on Thursday 10th September. The show is on air on Radio 2 from 8 pm - 10 pm.

There was a young boy in the audience who had travelled from Hull with his dad and was dressed as Hawley. RH asked that his dad hold him up for all to see and then asked if he was dressed as him or Buddy Holly or a mixture of the two..."Buddy Hawley".

Richard had loads of time for everybody who wanted stuff signing and posed for loads of pictures, so much so that Graham had to have a quick word reminding him of the radio session tonight (7pm BBC 6 Music).

A cracking way to spend an hour.

To wean myself off Elbow, I've bought Coles Corner, mostly due to the comments on this board........I've played it once and it's really, really good, had it on driving into work this morning, pitch blackand tipping it down with The Ocean playing.........just beautiful, the whirring strings gave me goosebumps.

Mr Hawley last night - there are no words that can express this man's talent. He leaves me gazing into the stars, unable to string sentences together ....

He's encore was 'The Ocean' it was heavenly.

He introduced a lady onto the stage who he has been collaborating with - Lisa-Marie Presley! They intend on writing some new material together. Was a real surprise!

Shez Sheridan has to be one of the countries most beautiful guitar players.

Wow, sounds like a tremendous evening, am just getting into his stuff like I've stated above, typical, just as he was at The Bridgwater Hall a week ago, DOH !

Seems like a proper, grounded type of guy, someone you'd like to spend an hour or two chewing the fat over a few pints of Yorkshire bitter !!

The man sells Hawley's relish at his merch stand, the man is a legend.

Maybe you should go to Sheffield or dare I say Liverpool next weekend?

I have, at last, bought myself a Richard Hawley CD, Lady's Bridge. I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying it - it's so unashamedly romantic - almost like music from a bygone era. I think I'm going to very much enjoy getting to know the rest of his music. In fact, I think it's certain that he will become one of my favourite artists.

Can't believe it took us so long to have a listen to bits of his back catalogue........I think he's great, Truelove's Gutter is next on my radar !!

Brilliant, MBV! - I'm delighted that someone else is getting into him now. He's another of those musicians where you can truly say 'I can't believe it's taken me so long to find him'. I've just ordered Coles Corner for my next foray into his back catalogue.

The perfect place to start, ticky! This is the album that maybe should have got the Mercury prize the year Arctic Monkeys won.

Even the Monkeys thought it should have gone to Coles Corner: The first thing Alex Turner said when he got on stage to receive the award was "Someone call the police, Richard Hawley's just been robbed!".

Oh my goodness! Coles Corner arrived today and I've been playing it constantly for the last 6 hours. It is so rare that I have such an emotional connection with music (actually, only Elbow does that for me), that I am flabbergasted. I am in awe of his work. Joined the RH forum yesterday and am waiting to get an email from the mod to confirm it. I see there's a few of us over there already! Excellent - more forum fun!

I've just remembered I'm seeing him on Saturday. Yippee

I recorded last night and it sounds pretty damn good. Not quite sure when I'll get chance to convert it to cd as things are pretty mad at the moment, but I'll share it once it's done.
