Love the lyrics. E (Mark Everett) has a great way with words and he can be pretty inventive especially around the time of Beautiful Freak and Daisies of the Galaxy.

Great music too; dark and beautiful, the way Elbow can be.

Definitely! I remember getting Electro-Shock Blues and being amazed by how powerful it was, and how uplifting, despite the subject matter. E has a great sense of melody, as well as being a really superb lyricist.

Anyone heard about/read the book E wrote recently? If you listen to his music regularly, you know he's had an interesting and dramatic life, to say the least. I haven't bought this yet but I will do, because I'm sure his telling of the tale will be worth reading.

I'll probably wait until the paperback edition, being such a tightwad. I have heard of it however.

There was a fantastic documentary recently about E's dad who was a brilliant theorist/scientist type bod and came up with the whole multiverse/multiple dimension theory stuff. E featured prominently as he spoke about his relationship with his dad. Excellent if you ever get to see it.

I just became friends with E's dog, Bobby , Jr., on MySpace. He has appeared in a couple of Eels videos and on a track from Blinking Lights... And he has his very own MySpace page. So now I'm his friend.

MySpace is a funny place.

Hi all - I've just got an Eels greatest hits - I don't know much about them/him. Just wonderful - More music that I can't believe I missed!

Glad you're enjoying it ticky...E is absolutely one of my favorite songwriters ever!

Just watched a program about E and his dad on telly last night, funnily enough. E never knew his father too well (he passed away when E was 18), but his dad was a very well-respected quantum physicist and he proposed a theory about parallel universes back in the 50's. The show was about E's attempt to investigate and understand his father's life and work. Eels have announced ANOTHER new release, for early next year! Hot on the heels of Hombre Loco, we have even more new Eels to look forward to! He does keep himself busy, doesn't, he?

Has anyone heard of any UK tour dates? Saw him in Sheffield last time round and he's not, to my knowledge, toured Hombre Loco.

Nothing planned at the moment according to the official website. I just has a quick look after Chrissie's info on the new album and I see there's a free download of five tracks called The MySpace Transmissions; four Eels tracks and a cover of Girl From The North Country.

that's excellent. I was after the vinyl which has an extra track, but it was fifteen quid in Piccadilly at the weekend and the Roses vinyl was more tempting for a few quid more.

One week left until the release of the new Eels disc, End Times...everything I've heard from it so far is quality. Cannot wait! Wooohooo!

Mine's on order (the deluxe 2 disc version) which should arrive on the day of release. I agree Chrissie. The stuff I've heard so far is brilliant.

I have to admit to struggling with Hombre Lobo a bit but recently I've got my head around it. It's a good album, although not a classic by any means.

I heard about this the other week and was gobsmacked...old Mr. E has been quite busy of late! No tour dates near me, as per ususal ( ), but I am definitely looking forward to the new disc.

New album finally out this week, and I've already been enjoying it thanks to the free full album stream on the Eels MySpace page. Not sure how it stacks up to past Eels LPs, though there are a few really good tunes so far. I'm always glad to get something new from E though!

Speaking of E, he's taking over Q's website starting today. There are interviews, E's Tracks of the Day and a competition to win E-signed boxing gloves.
